Every rider came to The Range searching for something.
For some, it was a finish line.
For others, it was a belt buckle.
Maybe it was proving you could still do hard things.
Maybe it was seeing just how far your legs, your mind, and your heart could carry you.
Long before hundreds of riders gathered in Claresholm,
Garth Stotts was searching for something too.
One gravel road became another. Then another.
Quiet roads through working ranches.
Native grasslands stretching toward the foothills.
Creek crossings. Big skies.
Forgotten places that deserved to be experienced.
That ride became The Range.
This year, The Range asked a little more of everyone.
The heat lingered. The wind had its own plans.
Every kilometre had to be earned.
But that’s always been true here.
Just ask the families who have cared for places like Burke Creek Ranch Ltd. for generations.
Out here, nothing worthwhile comes easy.
Yet somewhere between the startline and Chillville, something remarkable happened.
Strangers became riding partners.
A few encouraging words helped someone keep moving.
Friends added another chapter to an annual tradition.
Someone discovered they were stronger than they believed.
And hundreds of individual rides became one shared story.
That’s what makes The Range special.
Not just the roads.
Not just the scenery.
The people who choose to experience them together.
Congratulations to every rider who answered the challenge, especially our 4iiii Innovations Inc. Frontier champions Brian Loewen and Sinead Tracey, whose determination across 211 kilometres earned them this year’s Frontier titles.
None of this would be possible without the incredible support of Town of Claresholm, M.D. of Willow Creek, Burke Creek Ranch Ltd., our volunteers, and every one of our partners who help open these roads and welcome us into this remarkable corner of Alberta.
And finally...
Thank you to every rider.
Thank you for respecting the land.
Thank you for supporting this community.
Thank you for writing another chapter in the story of
The Range.
We’ll see you down the road.
