Great collaboration night on the mats with our neighboring Judo club Uplands judo club Ottawa!
They shared some excellent judo instruction and I had the chance to teach some Japanese Jiu Jitsu in return. Always a great experience learning from each other, and building strong connections within the martial arts community.
Big congratulations to Madison and Jayson on their well-earned promotions, I felt so lucky to be present for it!

Reminder: All adults who are grading 26 April need to attend as many prep classes as possible (All non-grading adults are also welcome!).

Classes will run from 10-11am the following Sundays, please confirm your attendance beforehand.
February 1
February 15
March 1
March 29
April 12

Prep classes focus on individual student development to ensure you are ready for your grading and know what to expect. Ensure you bring water, your curriculum binder, a writing utensil, your gi and sparring gear (if you have it).

In sparring, distance is everything. Use this image as a guide to help you determine what techniques can be effectively executed based on your distance.

Kick Distance: Slightly farther than punching range—enough space to extend your leg without losing balance.
Punch Distance: Close enough to reach your target without
overextending.
Elbow/knee Distance: Very close— when you’re almost touching your opponent.
