Ontario Dressage is thrilled to welcome Anna Swackhammer and Kiara Williams-Brown as our first-ever, newly elected Co-Directors of Youth Advocacy Programs.
In this role, Anna and Kiara will bring youth perspectives directly to the Board and help shape new initiatives that address real challenges young riders face across Ontario. Their work will focus on creating more opportunities for youth to speak up, build connections, engage with the sport, and play an active role in shaping the future of dressage in the province.
Meet our Youth Advocates:
Kiara Williams-Brown
With over 14 years in the Ontario dressage community, Kiara is currently working toward the U25 Grand Prix level. Her experience training and competing internationally gives her valuable insight into how youth development systems operate beyond Canada. She understands the importance of mentorship, education, and structured development for young riders, and she brings a strong, informed perspective on how to strengthen these pathways. She will contribute practical, experience‑based insight to the Board as we work to expand and improve youth opportunities across the province.
Anna Swackhammer
Anna Swackhammer is an FEI dressage rider and multi-medalist at the North American Youth Championships, with success competing at both the national and international levels. Throughout her progression in the sport, she has personally navigated many of the barriers that can limit youth advancement in dressage, while also benefiting from strong mentorship and youth development programs.
Now, as an emerging young professional and coach, Anna sees these challenges and opportunities firsthand and understands what young riders need to remain engaged and succeed in the sport. She is deeply passionate about supporting youth riders and helping to foster and strengthen the next generation of dressage athletes.
As a Board member, Anna will bring this perspective to the table, serving as a strong advocate for youth and working to support, develop, and retain the next generation of riders.
