It’s funny how a few old photos can take you right back to a specific moment in your life.
These photos represent a turning point for me.
Here’s the story.
They were taken almost a year ago during a photoshoot for an ad campaign promoting my hybrid training coaching. I was 3 weeks out from a bodybuilding show. Lean, hungry, and running on fumes.
At the time, I had been slowly building Liberty Fitness | Online Fitness Coaching for years while still working my 9-5. Relying solely on my coaching business for income still felt more like a dream than a realistic plan.
But balancing bodybuilding prep, my business, my day job, Hull Sunday Run Day, and my social life was becoming increasingly difficult. What made it worse was the quality of some of the interactions I had to endure from people who, let’s just say, were not always kind to myself or others.
I remember one afternoon, I stayed late at the office and was cornered by a manager who, after I had asked a simple clarifying question, told me she “wasn’t going to spoon feed me this sh*t.”
Looking into her eyes and receiving that level of disrespect on company time changed me.
In that moment, I realized that going all in on myself and taking the risk was my only option. After all, you can fail while choosing the safe path in life too.
Soon after, I started thinking harder about my gifts and what I actually had to offer people. I realized how valuable my skills, knowledge, and experience really were.
So I booked a shoot with Mark Burger - Ottawa Photographer & Videographer and called in sick on a Monday to make it happen. 😂
The funny thing is that the people who treat you poorly may never know that their actions helped put you on your rightful path.
And they never have to.
Perhaps you’ll tell them one day.
I’m proud to say that after leaving that job in November, I’ve found success in my coaching business month after month.
More importantly, I’ve had the privilege of helping people become better versions of themselves time and time again and my soul sings every morning because of it.
I share this to remind you to listen to the universe, even when the message is unpleasant.
Invest in yourself. You are worth it. 🕊️
