✨ MONDAY MANTRA ✨

“Begin where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”

You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin.

Whether you're stepping onto your yoga mat for the first time, returning after time away, deepening your practice, or considering yoga teacher training, every meaningful journey starts exactly where you are.

You don't need to be more flexible.
You don't need to know all the answers.
You just need to take the next step.

🌿 Start where you are.
🌿 Work with what you have.
🌿 Trust that small, consistent steps can lead to meaningful change.

What is one step you can take this week? ✨

Have you ever noticed the mandalas throughout PranaShanti?

They are on our walls, woven into our spaces, and reflected in our logo. That is very intentional.

Historically, the mandala has been used across many spiritual and cultural traditions as a symbolic representation of the universe, wholeness, balance, and the interconnectedness of life. The word mandala, from Sanskrit, is often translated as “circle.”

The circle has no beginning and no end.

For thousands of years, mandalas have been used as tools for meditation, contemplation, ritual, and personal transformation. Their patterns often begin from a central point and expand outward—reflecting the idea that we are connected to something greater while also having a centre within ourselves.

At PranaShanti, the mandala represents so much of what we believe in.

✨ Connection — to ourselves and one another
✨ Community — individuals coming together to create something greater
✨ Growth — expanding outward while staying connected to our centre
✨ Wholeness — honouring every part of the yoga journey
✨ The journey inward — returning, again and again, to what grounds us

You will see mandalas throughout our Yoga Centre and Education Centre because they are a reminder of the intention behind the spaces we have created.

PranaShanti is a place to learn, practise, grow, connect, and return to yourself.

And just like a mandala, each of us is part of something interconnected—each person bringing their own energy, experience, and presence to create the larger whole.

That is why the mandala is part of our logo. And that is why you will find them throughout PranaShanti. 💜

🦵 Your knees carry you through life. How are you supporting them?

Walking. Climbing stairs. Getting up and down from the floor. Practising yoga. Moving through everyday life.

Your knees are influenced by much more than what happens at the knee joint itself. Your hips, ankles, and feet all play an important role in how your knees move, stabilize, and support you.

Join Kim for Healthy Hinges: A Knee Mobility Series, a 4-week in-person series designed to explore the whole movement system—from your hips to your feet.

Through a combination of body awareness, traditional Hatha yoga postures, and targeted mobility work, you'll explore practical ways to:

✨ Improve joint mobility and functional range of motion
✨ Build strength and stability to support the knees
✨ Explore the connection between your hips, knees, ankles, and feet
✨ Develop greater body awareness through mindful movement
✨ Support more easeful, confident movement in everyday life

Over four weeks, we'll explore:

🦵 Week 1: Foundations & Awareness
🧘 Week 2: Hips & Knee Support
🦶 Week 3: Ankles, Feet & Balance
✨ Week 4: Integration & Functional Movement

Whether you're looking to support knee health, improve your mobility, or simply want to move through life with greater comfort and confidence, this thoughtful and accessible series is for you.

📅 Sundays, September 13 – October 4, 2026
⏰ 2:00–3:30 pm
📍 PranaShanti Yoga Centre | Soul Room

Open to all levels. Some yoga or movement experience may be helpful, but not required.

Your ability to move well supports the life you want to live. Start where you are. 🌿

🍂 WELLNESS AT THE TABLE

A Simple Taste of Fall

As the seasons change, so can the way we nourish ourselves. 🧡

Fall brings an abundance of warming, comforting foods—squash, apples, root vegetables and hearty grains—that invite us to slow down, savour our meals and bring a little more mindfulness to how we eat.

🍁 TRY THIS SIMPLE 4-INGREDIENT RECIPE

Roasted Maple Squash

✨ You’ll need:
• 1 small butternut squash, cubed
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 tsp maple syrup
• A pinch of sea salt

Simply toss everything together and roast at 400°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes, until tender and lightly caramelized.

Serve alongside lentils, grains or a hearty fall salad. 🥗

Wellness isn't only what happens on your yoga mat. It's also found in how we move, breathe, rest—and nourish ourselves every day.

MONDAY WISDOM 🌿

Not every feeling needs an immediate response.

Sometimes, we simply need to pause long enough to listen.

This week’s reminder:

✨ Pause before you react.

Yoga invites us to develop awareness—not only of the body, but of our thoughts, emotions and patterns.

When something challenges us, our first instinct may be to respond, fix, defend or move on.

But what happens when we pause?

Take a breath.
Notice what is happening.
Create a little space between the experience and your response.

That space can change everything.

So as you move through this week, ask yourself:

Where could I pause and listen before I respond?

Maybe it’s in a difficult conversation.
Maybe it’s when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
Maybe it’s in the way you speak to yourself.

You don’t always need to have the answer right away.

Sometimes wisdom begins with simply being willing to notice.

Take a breath.
Pause.
Listen.

🌿 TEACHER FEATURE | VALENTINA

For Valentina, yoga began in Caracas in 2002, when two friends invited her to practise Hatha Yoga with pioneering teachers Juan Carlos Linares and Ximena López.

At the time, yoga was the perfect complement to her active lifestyle—helping to release the muscular load that came with long hours of running, triathlon and climbing.

What began as a complement to movement gradually became something much deeper.

After practising at Yoga Pedregal and Yogashala in Caracas, Valentina moved to Ottawa to complete her Master’s degree at Carleton University. Alongside her academic studies, she completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2008–2009.

In 2009, she returned to Venezuela and began teaching in studios and gyms, while also volunteering with “En los barrios” and “Yoga en la plaza”—NGOs bringing yoga into low-income neighbourhoods and public spaces while reinforcing values of non-violence, tolerance, respect and peace.

After returning to Canada in 2016, Valentina continued sharing yoga throughout Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph and Kitchener, teaching Power, Yin and Hatha-inspired practices.

Today, teaching yoga remains a source of inspiration, passion, spiritual guidance and physical strength.

For Valentina, yoga is also about connection—the opportunity to give, receive, learn from others and express gratitude for the blessings of life.

✨ We’re grateful to have Valentina sharing her practice, experience and heart with the PranaShanti community.
