The chill of night always seemed to find me, whether I was huddled in a women’s shelter, navigating the sterile halls of a group home, or lost in the raw hustle of the trap. Back then, “tomorrow” was just a word, carrying no weight, no promise. Each night bled into the next, survival the only focus.
I remember the faces, the fleeting connections, and the shared struggle to make it through. It was a world where every moment was a battle, and foresight was a luxury we couldn’t afford. Yet, somehow, those nights etched themselves into my soul, a stark reminder of what it means to truly live on the edge.
Now, I carry those memories as a compass. I choose to live as if each breath could be my last, soaking in every detail, every sensation. Because I know, more than ever, that every second is a building block of the future I’m creating. The past doesn’t define me; it fuels my commitment to a life lived with intention, gratitude, and fierce awareness.
