Thank you!

As OHS Basketball is days away from starting a new season, we Dan and Ashley (former coach's) would like to say thank you to everyone. Over the past decade for Dan and 5 years for Ashley we have had a tremendous amount of support from fans, family, supporters, athletes and OHS. We wanted to say thanks for the memories, the lessons, the hard days and especially the moments we'll never forget. In the past 8 years 67 young men have progressed through our program, to them we extend our appreciation for your hard work and commitment to Basketball.

While both of us plan to step away from OHS Varsity Boys Basketball, we hope that sometime in the future we can rejoin and recapture the passion to compete day in and day out on the hardwood.

We wanted to move the program forward, giving the athletes stiffer competition, keeping them challenged, grounded and grinding.....the life lessons of perseverance through determination and hard work was the forefront of our philosophy, hopefully it worked for some.

Best of luck in the coming years, we'll be watching, supporting, and hopefully one day rejoining!!

The epitome of our vision

We wanted to wait to make sure be was done with his final year of collecting accomplishments. Logan Box is the most decorated athlete to ever grace an OHS Basketball uniform. A list of Logans accomplishments are listed below but we just wanted to say that Mr. Box was easily the most respectful athlete we've ever coached. Logan congratulations on your unmatched senior year, best of luck the UNB Bombers in the years to come. We wish you nothing but the best in the future and look forward to watching you succeed in years to come.

A special type of athlete

This season is the 1st time that the OHS Blues handed out the MVP and Bill Jarrett award to the same recipient, it was deserving.

Kaden Lavallee played with the heart of a champion night in and night out, he was our undeniable leader on the court and could transform a game at any point with a scoring play that would make you amazed or a blocked shot that would make you hop out of your seat. One of the funniest athletes off the court and most determined on it Kaden excelled in the 2022-2023 season, we are very proud to announce our MVP and Bill Jarrett award winner for the top defensive player is Kaden Lavallee. Congratulations Kaden and best of luck as you move into STU in the coming months.

Red hot shooter takes top O award

Owen Hines was easily the top percentage 3 point shooter that OHS Varsity Boys Basketball has seen in the past 20-30 years. A stat that stands out would be in a 4 game tournament spanning two days, Hines lit the lamp from long range 21 times, not bad for the one they call Oblock!! Your 2022-2023 top offensive player is Owen Hines!!!

Owen it's been a pleasure to have you on our roster for the past two years, you were a weapon on the court and a sportsmen off of it. Thank you for helping lead the charge and most importantly keeping the fun in the game for coach's and players alike. Best of luck as you progress into a bachelor of arts program at UNB, you'll no doubt splash A+'s just like you splashed those treys!

Leader recognized for hustle

OHS needed an athlete to do all of the things a team needs done that don't show up on a scoresheet. Hustle plays, diving for loose balls, boxing out, closing out, helping on defense, leading new players, out work everyone......if you could sum that up it would be spelled Kalob McLaughlin! The senior worked every play he was on the floor and it paid off as he was selected this season as the 2022-2023 OHS Varsity Boys Coach's award winner for leadership.

Kalob we thank you for your attitude and willingness to sacrifice for the betterment of your teammates over the past two seasons. You will not doubt find success in whatever you pursue in the future, keep working hard, keep smiling, snd most importantly keep leading by out working everyone!! Congratulations

Whole new athlete

The overhaul that Alex Stymiest made in his game over the summer of 2022 was to say unbelievable, walking into tryouts for the 2022-2023 season it was easy to see the amount of work put in by this young man. He came in with a new attitude, work ethic and a much improved shot from the previous season.

Easily one of the most disapline athletes to coach with a never quit attitude. For two years Alex never stopped showing improvement and that culminated in his selection as the 2022-2023 OHS Boys Basketball most improved player award.

Congratulations Alex Stymiest, it was a pleasure having you in our program and most importantly watching you excel over the past two seasons, never stop striving for success!

The rookie can play!

Walking into the 2022-2023 season OHS Varsity Boys Basketball knew they needed to add depth to the post position, enter big man Xavier McIntyre!! The big fella out worked almost everyone on the floor game in and game out this season. A truly gifted athlete with an even better attitude on and off the floor Xavier exemplifies the sportsmen culture by creating last friends through hard work and respectful competition.

Congratulations to this seasons rookie of the year Xavier McIntyre. It's been a pleasure to be apart of your growth this year Xavier! Best of luck next season with he OHS Varsity Boys Basketball team. Continue to lead by example through hard work, teamwork and most importantly sportsmanship!!

Please join OHS Basketball in congratulating coach Ashley Shannon on capturing the 2023 Intermediate woman's provincial championship this past weekend at Gibson-Neil middle school. Shannon was also a coach of our U18 Oromocto Magic team to pull off the double title year. This is the 2nd time she has achieved such a feat, with the same honor in 2019.

Ashley has been on the winning Intermediate team for the past 3 Championships, this season she competed with the Capital City classics this season.
