We’re still taking a moment to reflect on what an incredible week it was at the Montana’s Brier in St. John’s.
Having the opportunity to represent New Brunswick on that stage is something our team will never take for granted. Wearing the letters NB on the front and competing against the best teams in the country is a privilege we feel deeply proud of.
One of the things that made this week so special was the incredible support that surrounded us. Nearly 40 friends and supporters made the trip to St. John’s to be there with us, and seeing those familiar faces in the stands meant more than we can properly put into words. The energy and encouragement you gave us throughout the week truly helped carry us.
What made it even more meaningful was having our closest family members with us for the entire week. Being able to share moments like this with the people who have supported us through so many seasons, practices, and road trips made the experience incredibly fulfilling.
We also felt tremendous support from the fans in the arena. As the only Eastern team in Pool B, we were lucky enough to have many people adopt us as their team for the week. The crowd was fantastic, and we could feel that encouragement every time we stepped on the ice. Maybe it helped that Noah, Joel and Drew all have Newfoundland roots, but whatever the reason, we were grateful for the love we felt all week.
Back home, the support was just as strong. We want to thank everyone from the Gage Golf & Curling Association, the Gladstone Curling Club, and curling fans across New Brunswick for the messages, encouragement, and pride you showed in our team throughout the event. Knowing that so many people were following along and cheering us on meant a great deal to us.
On the ice, we finished the week with a 5–3 record, missing the playoffs by just 21 cm over the course of the event. That moment will stay with us for a while, but we’re incredibly proud of the way this group competed and battled all week. We have been incredibly fortunate to have represented New Brunswick at the last three Briers, and it’s exciting for our team to see the progress we’ve made along the way, improving our win total by 2 games each year. That gives us a lot of belief and excitement about what the future holds for Team Grattan.
Internal congrats to Noah Riggs for his amazing performance in his first brier. He definitely turned heads with his sweeping abilities all week !
This Brier also carried a special meaning for the entire curling community as it marked Brad Gushue’s final Brier in his hometown of St. John’s. The city was an amazing host. The people, the atmosphere, and the passion for curling made this one truly unforgettable. Brad, thank you for everything you’ve given to the game, and enjoy the next chapter of your journey.
Finally, we want to thank our sponsors and corporate partners. Your support makes it possible for us to chase these opportunities and represent New Brunswick on the national stage. It’s something we are very proud to do.
Thank you to everyone who supported us and shared in this journey. It was a week we will never forget.
Stay tuned for updates as we turn our focus toward the 2026–2027 season.
Sincerely,
James, Joel, Andy, Noah, Drew, and Dean.
