Not a race weekend, but still fun with cars!

We were at British Car Day, at Bronte Creek Provincial Park with Dad's 1965 Triumph TR4A. The car was selected to be the 60th anniversary car and received lots of well deserved praise.

It's certainly something that Tara and I really enjoy using as often as we can. It was also our wedding car a few years ago.

The Calabogie Summer Classic was lots of fun. It was really nice to have the whole family join on Staturday before the girls had to run off to more Soccer games on Sunday. Sophie also brought along her friend Melodie with her for company. -- Thanks to both of them for the photos below.

I was getting more and more comfortable in the car and starting to really have fun. Unfortunatly, we were still really struggling with fueling which was costing me MANY seconds of lap time. The engine was bogging quite badly at the end of long straights and coming out of slow corners as I applied the throttle -- a significant problem on a track with 20 corners! I think I now understand the issue and should be able to have it resolved for next season.

I was also a pleasure to be padocked next to .taylor.90 and his lovely MGB. Thanks Duncan for the very kind shout-out on his youtube channel - "MG Stories".

That will be it for our on track activities for 2025 -- but what an amazing year! I am thrilled with how the car turned out and the positive reception it has recieved. On to 2026 to get all the bugs worked out and hopefully put up some more respectable results. But most importantly -- Keep having fun!!

What a fantastic weekend at the VARAC vintage Grand Prix! We complete 4 days on track, with very few issues. The car received lots of attention from fans and fellow competitors with a constant flow of people stopping by to inspect my work.

After 7 years away from racing, and a brand new car to understand, I was very tentative and was building up speed slowly. There is still much more lap time to be found, but for the first weekend back behind the wheel, I couldn't have been happier.

At the end of the weekend, we ended up 1st (and only) in class and went away with a nice trophy. After 6 hard years of effort I'm happy to take home some hardware, even if I was alone on the podum.

Next race weekend should be at Calabogie in August.

After 6 years of work, we managed to get the Mallock on track for the first time. There were of course a number of little issues to sort out, but even the F1 teams face those challanges when shaking down a new car. Generally i'm thrilled with how it turned out.

I'm looking forward to attending the Vintage Grand Prix at Mosport in 2 weeks time. I fully expect more little issues to deal with, but that's all part of the fun!

After 5+ years of work the Mallock is functionality complete!! I am delighted with how it turned out.

I'm trying to arrange a shake down test sometime in mid-April with the goal of attending the first race weekend on May 10th.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Starting in the chassis setup this weekend. Made up some alignment bars last weekend... The new 3D printer is proving quite handy!!

Also added some more vinyl to the car. My sister did a great job replicating my dad's font with her vinyl cutter.

The car is now mechanically complete!!!

Coolant system is plumbed up and tested with a pressure tester - no leaks! I used the new (to me?) Heat shrink clamps. The look and work great.

I also made a oil pressure priming device. That also worked great and alowed me to bleed and test the guage before spinning the motor.

Finally, after 5 years I hit the button, spun the motor with the plugs out and got a solid 30 lbs of oil pressure on the starter.

It was a relief that everything worked ss it should. Now to find ethanol free fuel and work towards starting it!!

Slow but steady progress on the Mallock over the past few months.

Wiring has now been completed. I decided to use a Cartek battery isolator instead of an old school kill switch. It simplified the installation and guaranteed I could reach the kill button from in the car while still providing a kill button under the rollbar.

I also installed a Lambda sensor to tune AFR. Hopefully, that takes some of the guess work out of tuning the carbs.

The oil lines all worked out well, once I figured out where they needed to go.

One of the biggest set backs was that unfortunately the Bestek distributor i had purchased would not fit under the intake manifold. It was a really nice bit piece but I am stuck with an original Lucas distributor rebuilt and tuned in the UK by the Distributor Doctor.

Next step is to make up all the coolant hoses and move towards running it in for the first time before it gets too cold.

A bit of a photo dump...

1) Finished making a new pair of Aluminum front wings using the NACA 4412 Profile. Wing Spars were designed in CAD and ordered online.

2) One evening in front of my lathe I made scrap aluminum...same with the next evening. But on the third evening! I made a nice aluminum cap for the water overflow bottle. To be tapped to 1/4 NPT to fit a AN fitting. Vent hole also to be drilled.

3) I also made a headrest cover using an old Mallock headrest that Richard Mallock was kind enough to send my way. Unfortunatly the origional headrest wouldn't fit the new roll hoop, but the vinyl was put to good use!

4) Fitting a small alternator. the bracket shown is only the prototype for mockup... I'll make a new bracket without the slots for the mounting bolts once I know how everything lines up.

I'm working on the exhaust, fitting the fire extinguisher, plumbing the clutch now. Progress has been slow but steady.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Engine has been assembled and is now back in my shop.

Just waiting on some pushrods. Next steps are to fit the Hydraulic throw out bearing, fabricate an exhaust, plumbing, wiring, etc.
