PLAYOFFS!

We've made it through 14 intense weeks of the regular season. The regular season standings are below. On to the playoffs!

We have some interesting first round matchups:

Championship bracket

Rodney vs Tim
In a rematch of the 2017 EGTC finals, can Tim finally get his revenge 5 years in the making or will Rodney pick up the win and continue on in his quest to become the first player to win 2 EGTC championships?

Simon vs Andrew
A week 13 rematch. Does Simon have what it takes to bounce back after a narrow loss earlier to Andrew? Andrew also has an opportunity to become the first 2-time EGTC champion.

5-8 bracket
Josh vs Dalton
These longtime rivals will duke it out in a battle of speed vs power.

Nathan vs Eric
Both player are looking to finish their season strong and lock down their ranking for next year.

Rodney has made a quick run for the top spot. Will Simon's Macabo dethrone Champagne?

The elder Nelson will make a push, but has to get through Nathan.

Josh held off Eric in the 2nd set and will face last year's champ.

Decades-old foes Tim and Dalton meet for another probable close match.

Job's tennis intelligence grows with each match. He'll have another opportunity for growth against Eric.

Here are the week 4 results and week 5 matchups.

Week 3 results are now posted:

Tier 1
Nathan takes down the champ in 3 set thriller to take top spot! Up to this point Mitchell had put together an impressive win streak dating back to week 9 of last season. Nathan should not bask in his place in the standings too long however as he'll need to be ready to face a tough challenger in week 4.

Tier 2
Rodney continued his rise through the rankings with a statement 6-1, 6-0 win against Andrew. When interviewed post-game Rodney was quoted as saying "I have my eyes on that trophy". Andrew will look forward to a rematch of week 1 vs Tim having won the initial match.

Tier 3
Simon bounced back from his recent 2 game slide with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Eric. He had no time to spare on the courts with the arrival of his newborn daughter earlier this morning, Congrats Simon!! Eric will try and regroup next week in his match against Josh.

Tier 4
Friday night, as Tim was going over video and preparing mentally for his Saturday morning match with Dalton, he received the unfortunate news that Dalton had been affected by a hamstring injury and would be unable to play. Rumor has it that Dalton strained the muscle while performing the splits to tag out the final out at first base during a highly competitive softball match. EGTC wishes a quick recovery to Mr Holloway.

Tier 5
Josh and Job finally were able to meet up to battle it out in tier 5. Josh came away with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win.

The season is now underway with week 1 in the books. When interviewed post-game, most players mentioned they felt they were not yet in peak form and needed to get back into game shape. Winter rust aside, week one produced some exciting results with the Tier 1 & Tier 3 matches requiring a tie-break set to determine the winner.

In a re-match of last season's championship match, Mitchell showed that his victory was no fluke taking down Simon in an epic three set 2h 45m clash that tested each player's stamina and determination.

In a re-match of the bronze medal match, Andrew once again held off a late surge from Tim to secure his win. Andrew appeared quicker than last season, perhaps due to the reduction of facial hair weight.

Nathan steadied his nerves and shook off a 1st set shalacking from Eric to come back and win in 3 sets and move up to tier 2.

In his return to the courts after a 4 year hiatus, Rodney picked up where he left off defeating Josh in straight sets.

Also making his return to the EGTC after 1 year off, Dalton introduced our newest member Job to the league with a straight set win (although sources close to Dalton noted that he is still in the process of re-finding his rocket serve).

Looking forward to the week 2 matchups, we have:
Mitchell vs Andrew
Simon vs Nathan
Tim vs Rodney
Eric vs Dalton
Josh vs Job

Stay tuned for more updates!
