We would like to welcome Louise Back to The TrainerGames Family as she heads of our Yoga/Tai Chi Program here in Shelburne.
Louise Marcoux Phillips is a 63-year-old certified Tai Chi and Yoga instructor and a member of the Canadian Taijiquan Federation. She has been practicing Yoga for 47 years and Tai Chi for 13 years. Louise has created an extensive client base and has been teaching Tai Chi and Yoga for the past 15 years in different venues in Shelburne and Orangeville. Presently she teaches her classes in the Studio at Trainer Games Fitness Centre in Shelburne. She is a member of the Dufferin Art Council and works with students in both elementary and secondary schools through their outreach program, ‘Artists in the Schools’. Louise teaches Chair Yoga at the Adult Day Program at the Mel Lloyd Centre, the Dufferin Oaks Adult Program, and at the Avalon Retirement Lodge. Louise teaches occasionally as a guest instructor at Aaron Downey’s Yoga Studio. In giving back to the community of Shelburne, Louise has offered her services for non-profit to the Shelburne Brownies, The Shelburne Farmers’ Market, the Early-On Child and Family Centre at the Mel Lloyd Centre, the Jean Hamlyn Centre, Towne Fitness, Shelburne Family Chiropractic and the North Dufferin Wellness Centre.
Louise’s Yoga program is a unique blend of Yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong and Pilates, marrying the beauty and strengths of those healing and stretching modalities together. Her focus is on strength-training with the goal of helping her clients achieve their dreams of having a stronger, leaner body and a calmer, more relaxed mind. During each class Louise spends time teaching her clients Pranayama (breathing techniques) to help them learn how to de-escalate confrontations as well as using their breath to calm their nervous systems. In can be said that Louise’s classes resemble a Yoga Bootcamp in that the focus is on constantly challenging her clients’ strength and flexibility and teaching them to continue to strive towards their goals and to challenge themselves.
