We are almost at the end of our 2023 trout season and what a way for my client Brad to cap it off! With some tougher conditions recently we kept working hard and got rewarded in the end. It’s a bit hard to tell from the photo but this big brown might not make it through the winter. Based off of the size, maturity and slenderness of this brown it could very have one last spawn before it’s time is up. When you catch larger trout with a large head and a very slender body that almost looks like it’s withering from the inside it could well mean it’s time it near. If this is the case it makes this brown that much more special as my client may very well be the last to put his hand on it.
It’s important to handle every fish with care, but especially this time of year for trout. These fish are saving all their resources and entertainment for one thing and one things only, the further of our fisheries! Handle with care and enjoy that last few days of our season.
