When putting your emergency kit together keep in mind the number of people in your group and your pets. It is important to remember if you have children to include games and activities to keep them occupied. You should have more than one kit. These kits are as follows your home kit, car kit and your personal kit. Each of these kits are used for different situations. The first kit is the home kit and should include enough emergency supplies to provide for your family for seven days. The second kit is the car kit which is designed to ensure you have the necessary supplies for travel and should be used in conjunction with your personal kit. The home kit and the car kit once put together will probably not change to much. Your personal kit should change as your day to day routine changes. Make sure the changes suit the task in mind. Example if you are just following your daily routine then your kit will have a standard day pack list, if you are going on a camping trip your kit should be gone through to ensure you have the right supplies to help keep you safe if you get separated from your group.
When planning your personal kit keep in mind your route of travel, your destination, number of people, number of days and think about possible emergencies you could encounter. Doing this will help you be prepared for most situations.
