A couple of weeks ago we were blessed with this beautiful c**t. He is a big boy, with super long legs which unfortunately didn’t have enough room in mom to stretch out so he was born with contracted tendons and needed some extra care to stretch everything out. Then of course we noticed that there was a problem with his umbilicus so we had to take him down to the Surgeon in Aldergrove to have an omphalectomy. Breeding horses is definitely not for the faint of heart!! . The good news is that he is doing great, legs are straightened out already and he is one week post surgery and healing well. I can’t wait to see him run!!! Welcome to the world not so little, little Fargo. Special thanks to Lionheart Equine Veterinary Clinic, Dr Maia, Amy and Cole for the absolute best care. Also thank you to Paton & Martin Veterinary Services Ltd for your expertise and professionalism and trusting us to take him home early. And above all thanks to my family Jeff, Cassidy and Caily for your unconditional support ❤️❤️❤️

Edited to add Super special thanks to Montana for helping us both get through the struggles and tears of his first day!!! ♥️♥️

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a 2025 full of great rides!!❤️❤️

This girl is amazing, she speaks my heart and mind so often ♥️… To all of my students ♥️

You are extremely special…just like everyone else

One of the most comforting realizations I’ve had as a teacher, and as a student myself, is that almost everyone struggles with the same things.

We all struggle a little bit differently, and it manifests itself in different ways, but our struggle isn’t really unique. Everyone gets self conscious, everyone pulls when they don’t mean to, everyone wants validation and gets hurt feelings with constructive criticism, everyone feels like a failure sometimes…

Why is that comforting? As a teacher, it keeps fresh in my mind the wobbly vulnerability of each student, like a baby bird in my hand. It’s my job to help them flourish without breaking their fragile wings.
Sometimes I have to deliver some hard truths, without letting them lose sight of the fact that they are cupped in my hands securely.

As a student, it’s important to remember I struggle every bit as much as my students. I don’t like to fail but I do. I don’t like to feel stupid or totally inept, but I often do. I don’t like criticism as much as anybody else, but I need it to grow. I’m no different than anyone else in that regard.

We are all individuals and all carry our own burdens and talents, but I find it reassuring to remember we all carry the same human nature.

As Carl Sagan said, we are all made of star stuff- each of us unique, shining individuals, made of the same basic material, woven throughout the entire universe. None of us is really that different from another.

Thank-you beautiful Fibs, (also known as Fibi, Grammie mammy, Phoebe, and Sweet Dreams With Zip) thank you for being the best imaginable, sight unseen purchase ever, with all of the buttons of a show horse in her prime. She was the foundation of my lesson program, lesson horse extraordinaire, taught all of us so much about riding, and so much about life. She helped me be a better teacher, which I am so grateful for. Kind hearted and so very gentle and loved by so many. She will always have a piece of my heart. Sweet Dreams old girl, you will be missed. ♥️

Such a fun fulled summer camp couple of weeks. These kids rocked it this week, 5 days of chores, riding, crafts and learning about horses. Amazing to see how much they learn in 5 days. We are so lucky to have had the coolest bunch of kids here♥️Thanks Emily, Mo, Brooke and Blaire for your amazing patience and help!!

This is so true! I do my best to stand behind this philosophy in my lesson program♥️ Josh has such an amazing way of putting it into words!

There is a saying that, “You can’t understand someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes.” In horsemanship there are so many different styles, ideas and approaches connected to working with horses but we sometimes underestimate the life and journey of each person trying to apply these ideas. We cannot separate our personal journey from the one that we pursue with our horses. Our own journey always shows up in the arena with us. We may not like a person’s approach but it's important to remember that we are all doing the best we can with the knowledge and tools that we have in the moment. Let’s support each other on this journey and be empathetic when we see people doing things differently. You never know the battles they have been through. We must strive to be patient and kind with each other, as, “You can’t understand someone until you have ridden a mile in their boots!”
