With planting season approaching fast, you may be wondering which plants to avoid to make your property more resilient. This is a list of higher-risk trees with features like papery bark that burns easily or stems, branches, and/or foliage that contain highly flammable oils.

For recommendations on FireSmart plants that are still beautiful but less flammable than other species, check out the FireSmart BC Landscaping Hub:

UPDATE – September 11th, 2024

District of 100 Mile House Maintains Water Conservation Measures

The District is currently proceeding with the recommendation of the redevelopment of all wells. This involves applying various treatments and reconstruction methods to restore each well to peak efficiency, extending their operational life. This process requires significant investment and effort.
With the community’s support and efforts towards water conservation and due to the cooler weather and decreased draw on the overall water system the sani-station and bulk water station will re-open to the public as of Wednesday September 11th, 2024. The District closely monitors the demand on the water system and may choose to close these services on short notice, particularly once the redevelopment of the wells begins in the coming weeks.

The District wishes to thank the community for their continued support and ask that residents adhere to watering restrictions until the redevelopment is completed.

For further information and ongoing updates, please visit the District’s official website or contact the District office directly.
