We are excited to announce that we have been approved for a $5 million grant from the provincial government and a $8 million dollar grant from the federal government. This funding will allow us to pave the Gentle Giant and race trails for roller skiing, as well as install a snowmaking system on the Gentle Giant. Roller Skiing R Us will start the paving in August. Let it Snow Construction will start installing the snowmaking system in September. We expect to come in under budget and will build an indoor ski tunnel with any remaining funds. Once construction is complete we will change our name to Gottcha Nordic Club.

Thanks again Kal Tire for your ongoing support to our Skill Development Program. Despite the less then stellar snow conditions this year, your funding enabled us to send athletes to the Track Attack Championships in West Kelowna hosted by Cross Country BC. Kal Tire's ongoing support enables us to keep enhancing our Skill Development Program year after year. Last year we received a grant to purchase roller skis for off season training that were well used and we will be making use of them again shortly.

After yesterday's rain, we have now closed the gate as the trails have a lot of ice on them and the rest of the trails are bulletproof hard snow. Hopefully the forecasted snow over the next few days comes and we can reopen.

The trails have some bare spots in front of the lodge and are quite icy in places. Due to these marginal conditions, the lodge will stay closed for this weekend. The gate is still open. Please exercise extreme caution when using the ski or snowshoe trails. Hopefully we will get some more snow and be able to open the lodge again. The next trail update will be on Sunday.

Thanks so much to Rivers Co-op for the grant funding to purchase a new, wider mower! This will halve the time our trails team spends on trail prep each fall, and will result in a closer shave for our trails.
