Top Notch Flys and Guiding Service

🎣 Starting to get the fly-tying bug! 🪰

As I slowly wind down another fly-fishing season, I’m also looking ahead and preparing for some major changes coming to Top Notch Flys & Guiding Service in 2027 — along with some exciting life changes.

With the rainy weather hanging around this past long weekend, I figured there was no better place to be than behind the vise! 🔨🪶

I spent some time playing around with a few different stonefly nymph patterns, experimenting with materials, profiles and a few different ideas.
Now comes the fun part — putting them to the test! 🎣

I’ll be fishing these over the next few weeks as we wrap up the 2026 season and see how the trout respond.

You never really know what a new pattern is going to do until you put it in the water. Some become go-to patterns… others become lessons! 😂

The vise is heating up, the fly boxes are starting to fill, and there’s a lot happening behind the scenes at Top Notch Flys & Guiding Service.

2027 is shaping up to be one hell of a year. Stay tuned! 🎣🪶

Well, the wait is almost over!

Wes David and I will be hitting the water Thursday, September 10th, 2026, to finish up the episode we started back in August. 🎥🎣

Now we just need Mother Nature to cooperate! 🤞🌤️

Here’s hoping for good weather, happy trout, bent rods and TIGHT LINES! 🐟🎣

🤠🎣 HATS OFF — LITERALLY! 🎣🤠

I’ve got to give a HUGE shoutout to my good friend Ryan Storch at WildRose HatPins!

I asked Ryan to come up with two custom hat pins for me — one inspired by Brown Trout colours and the second in Westslope Cutthroat colours.

Honestly… WOW! 🤯🔥

These pins turned out WAY better than I could have imagined! The colours, detail and craftsmanship are absolutely incredible. Ryan took my idea and completely knocked it out of the park!

Thank you, Ryan! These are seriously amazing, and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. 🙌🎣

Tippet has two great loves in life: STICKS 🪵 and WATER 💦

I’ve had many dogs over the years, but I have NEVER had one this completely obsessed with sticks or one that loves the water as much as this little crazy girl does! 😂

Give her a stick and a river or a lake, and apparently she has everything she needs to live her best life! 🤣🐶💦

She’s 100% stick-chasing, water-loving, trouble-making Tippet… and I wouldn’t change a thing! ❤️
