Deep South Riding ARena The Deep South Riding Arena is a volunteer run riding arena located in Ogema, SK It was built in 2001 by local members of the Big Muddy Team Roping Association.

Ogema’s Riding Arena is located behind the Recreation Complex past the campgrounds north of Highway 13. It is 150 feet x 300 feet in size and comes equipped with team roping boxes, cattle chutes and holding pens. The arena has a sand bottom and just received new sand in May 2013. There is an announcer’s booth and a shaded area along side the arena for comfortable viewing. The arena hosts many team

roping and barrel racing events throughout the summer months.The Arena is home to the Deep South Barrel racing Association. The Association hosts approxomately 6 events each year...the biggest being the Ogema Barrel Bash in July as well as the Deep South Barrel Racing Finals in September. The local 4H Club and Agricultural Society also use the Arena for their achievement Day and Fair Day. We encourage riders to use the Arena at their leisure. PLease be respectful of the grounds. A little late posting but we’d like to thank the Ogema Ladies Night Out for the donation towards our water wagon!! It was a busy year at the arena and even though there was lots of rain it didn’t always come at the right time for us!! We used the waterer many many times!!! Thanks again!!

After a 12 year hiatus Maddie is putting those roping boxes to use again!!! Just the roping dummy for now but maybe real...

After a 12 year hiatus Maddie is putting those roping boxes to use again!!! Just the roping dummy for now but maybe real calves again one day! Many years of picking weeds in there and trying to keep it cleaned up was all worth the while.

Tis the season to get riding!
I’ve had some inquiries about using the arena which awesome!!
A couple things to note:
🤠 Drop in riders are welcome at the riding arena. There is a fee of $20 per horse. There is a drop box on the fence or you can e transfer. Please contact me first to make sure the arena is available and the ground is good for riding. I keep the ground up for riding but if there’s no rain for an extended period of time it is tough to keep it rideable.
🤠 The arena can be rented by the day as well…if you are hosting an event that requires insurance you are responsible for obtaining the insurance.
🤠 There is no power on the grounds.
🤠 There is water on the grounds
🤠 There is no tractor or quad on the grounds…if you need the ground worked the onus is on the renter to handle that. There is an arena groomer there as well as a set of harrows to use.

A COUPLE THANK YOUS!
Thank you to the RM of KeyWest for donating a load of gravel for the entrance road!!
And thank you to Garnet Eden for helping me out with some mowing down there!! The grass has been a full time job this year!!

The last 13 panels have been put up!!! This completely finished off the perimeter of the arena complete with a few horse pens and run back alley too!!
120 panels put up and we were able to get 102 of them sponsored!!
Thank you to everyone for the generousity towards this huge project!!
