Matt plays fast out there, so fast his feet sometimes slide right out from under him.

He says the better the court, the more grip he gets underfoot, plus a truer bounce and a feel that gym floors, like hardwood or tile, just can't match.

It's still fun to play on those, but nothing beats a true professional-grade court, just like a TSS professional-grade court.

Back in 2016, the pickleball community was so small that everyone knew each other. Local tournaments felt like family gatherings.

The sport has grown a lot since then, but Matt says the same spirit is still there, with some of his closest friends decades apart in age.

A fast rise into competitive pickleball, Matt Kawamoto swung and missed his first shot, coming from a tennis background where the ball doesn't bounce as high.

Six days. 21 indoor courts. Players from every province.

The 2026 IG Wealth Management National Championships presented by HearingLife is coming to Toronto, and it's shaping up to be the biggest celebration of Canadian pickleball yet.

Women's and men's singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and the Provincial Team Competition all take centre stage at Pickleplex Downsview and Vaughan. This year, the PTC also plays an expanded role in Canada's National Development Program, helping identify the next generation of Canadian players on the international stage.

From coast to coast, the best in Canada will be on the court. And we're proud to be part of the community that made this sport what it is today.
