We recently took to the stunning fields of Fennario Meadows Lavender Farm for an unforgettable day of Historical Duels. Set against the beautiful purple blooms, our athletes stepped out in historically accurate clothing, competing in reenactments using techniques from that time period.⁣

Our historical fencers traded the academy for the magic of the Renaissance earlier this July! ✨🏰⁣

The team traveled down to 𝗡𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 for the incredible 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Stepping into a world of medieval marvels, knights, and princesses was the absolute perfect setting for our athletes. Dressed in their meticulously researched, historically accurate clothing, our fencers blended right in!⁣
⁣
When they weren’t discussing period-accurate techniques or admiring the armory, our fencers were fully immersing themselves in the festival—cheering at the joust, exploring the artisan markets, and engaging in every medieval activity the faire had to offer.⁣

We are incredibly honored to introduce 𝙄𝙧𝙞𝙨 𝙇𝙤𝙣𝙜 to the academy!⁣
⁣
Iris brings a truly world-class resume to our pistes. As a National Elite Athlete, a multiple-time Chinese National Women’s Sabre Champion, and a former member of the Chinese National Women’s Sabre Team (since 2004), her competitive experience is unmatched.⁣
⁣
But her expertise goes far beyond competing. She holds a Master’s degree in Sports Training from Beijing Sport University, is a Certified First-Class Referee, and has served as a coach at both Beijing Sport University and Peking University. Coaching across the United States and Canada since 2012, she brings over 13 years of international experience in developing nationally competitive athletes.⁣

A graduate of the prestigious Shanghai Institute of Physical Education, Coach Chen brings over 10 years of elite fencing experience in both Sabre and Foil to the piste. His expertise goes straight to the top—he has spent a number of years working directly as a coach for the Canadian National Team! 🇨🇦⁣

Coach Chen has a proven track record of developing champions. Several of his students have been selected to represent the Canadian National Team, while many others have claimed medals at national-level tournaments. We are thrilled to have his world-class insight guiding our athletes to their highest potential.⁣

Since taking on a coaching role in the summer of 2022, Erika has been passionate about giving back to the community. She is eager to share her expertise to help her students crush their athletic goals and develop into truly great fencers.⁣

With over 10 years of fencing experience under his belt, Brandon brings a wealth of first-hand knowledge to the piste, having competed at both the provincial and national levels.⁣

As a coach, Brandon is all about building a rock-solid foundation. He is dedicated to helping his students develop strong fundamentals, much sharper technique, and the unshakeable confidence they need to truly grow as both athletes and competitors.⁣

Continuing our coach spotlights, we are excited to introduce you to the man: 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿, 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗶𝗹 & 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵!⁣
⁣
Brily has been crossing blades since the early 1990s, and his passion for the sport hasn’t dimmed a bit. As an active, 𝘕𝘊𝘊𝘗-𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 since 2006 for Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, he is often the very first teacher our students meet at the Canadian Fencing Academy. He has even trained many of the younger coaches you see on the piste today!⁣

Whether he is maintaining our gear or teaching the intricacies of historical techniques, Brily’s ultimate goal is simple: to give every new student a love of the sport that will last a lifetime. 🤺❤️⁣
