Barroso Canyon, Costa Rica v6a5 V.
After a long journey, we arrived at the base of Barroso Canyon, ready for an unforgettable adventure. José and Jason, our local canyoneers, led the way as we began our trek through the dense jungle. The path was slippery with mud, and we had to carefully navigate around thick vegetation and spiky trees.

After what felt like forever, we reached the top, where the views were absolutely breathtaking. The 150-meter waterfall roared as it carved through a dark, shadowy canyon. There was no wind, just the deafening sound of water crashing into the rocks.

The descent into the canyon was short but demanding. The powerful flow of water required careful teamwork as we set up the ropes for the massive rappel. Once at the bottom, we took a moment to admire the raw beauty around us, feeling the power of nature in every step.

The climb back was tough, but the sense of accomplishment made it all worthwhile. We had conquered one of the most incredible canyons in Costa Rica, and it was an experience we’d never forget.

🚨 Attention, everyone! 🚨

I want to bring to light a serious concern regarding the recent article "Floating Sauna Opens Its Doors on Deep Cove Waters" by Mina Kerr-Lazenby, which highlights the launch of the Sisu Swim Sauna. While the article creates a picturesque image of this new venture, it fails to address a significant issue.

On April 20th, five individuals, including myself, witnessed the commercial captain of the Sisu Swim Sauna boat harassing a pod of three killer whales in Indian Arm. The boat was observed chasing the whales within 100 feet, blatantly violating respectful wildlife interaction guidelines. As a sea kayak guide and tourism professional, this behavior is deeply troubling and shows a lack of regard for marine life and environmental stewardship.

Given this incident, I urge everyone to reconsider supporting Sisu Swim Sauna. Promoting businesses that engage in harmful practices sets a concerning precedent and undermines efforts to protect our precious marine ecosystems. Let's support responsible and ethical tourism that respects and preserves our natural environment.

🌄 Excited to Share My Journey and a New Highlight! 🌟

Hey everyone! I’m thrilled to share a piece from Outside Magazine that resonates deeply with my own journey. It’s all about the trials and triumphs of securing land access for adventure companies, but to me, it echoes a much broader theme of perseverance against the odds.

From the get-go, my career choice raised eyebrows. The path less traveled by an adventure enthusiast was met with skepticism and doubt. As a kid with dreams bigger than my backpack, I often felt the weight of those judgments and dismissive comments. It seemed like a world intent on seeing me fail.

Yet, here I am, 30 years later, still pushing upwards, still hustling through. This article isn’t just about land access; it’s a metaphor for the climb we all face. Those moments when it feels like every force in the universe is against you, but you find that energy within to keep going, to keep reaching for your dreams.

My journey hasn’t been easy. There were moments when I thought about giving up, moments when the path seemed too steep. But it’s in these challenges that we find our strength. If it had been easy, perhaps I would’ve faltered, seeking another mountain to climb.

To those who have ever felt overlooked, misunderstood, or underestimated, let this be a reminder: Your dreams are valid, and your journey is worth it. Keep believing, keep striving, and remember, the view from the top is only as beautiful as the climb that gets you there.

Here’s to all of us still working our trade, still hustling through, and still proving that passion, persistence, and a bit of stubbornness can make all the difference.
