Summer of Speed Part 8 - Young Gun Edition!

4 massive PRs today at another scorcher at the track. Consistent exposures are starting to pay off with AJ Kwok rocking track spikes and going sub-1.100 for multiple reps, Lenny and Vinny popping multiple PR runs on the same day, Hayden entering his first scores, and William hitting 98%.

Next week is the last Speed Day for a few weeks (bye and then a Combine). 7 spots remain but they’ll be gone quick. Link in BIO for details, info, and registration. See you at the track!

Summer of Speed Episode 7! It was a scorcher out there today - beautiful weather for some high speed sprints. After our warm up, extensive plyos, some overcoming ISOs, and depth drops, we used a Sprint Complex to work on our horizontal projection:

A - Primetime x 20yd
B - Reactive Bound x 20yd
C - Band Resisted Acceleration x 10yd

The focus today was to DRIVE THROUGH THE GROUND during the acceleration phase, propelling our bodies forward in space, while quickly switching the thighs. After the complex, unresisted accelerations and floats primed our top speed attempts. Spots are filling up for next week. Make sure to get in early! The final Speed Day in May showcased some returning athletes for their first track sessions of the season. Good to see and .bowmann back at the track ripping sprints! Even had an old goalie rival of mine from minor hockey come out with his son!

The hockey world is a small one. So it’s always a pleasure when life paths continue to crossover in the real world!

Summer of Speed continues…
4 seasonal PRs today with all top reps above 95% of respective PRs. When sprinting, we want our working reps to be at that speed or above to be effective. Similar to resistance training, training submaximally with good intent drives adaptations. We look to put up a faster time each Speed Day so that by September, max speed is higher than April.

Inaugural DHP Combine was held this morning. Each athlete received their Combine Report to track their progress over the summer. The next Combine is scheduled for Sunday, June 7.

In the meantime, continue to track and train your top speed weekly at DHP Speed Day - the next one is next Sunday, May 10.

Standing Broad Jump

- 3 attempts
