This past weekend, Neebin Prince competed in her very first powerlifting meet in Scarborough, Ontario. The event was hosted by Band and Barbell CrossFit and featured raw competition rules, meaning lifters were not permitted to use supportive lifting suits or wraps. Competitors were only allowed to wear singlets and knee sleeves, with no additional lifting aids permitted.
Neebin had been preparing for this event for approximately six months and was excited to step onto the platform for her first-ever competition. Powerlifting is a three-lift strength sport consisting of the squat, bench press, and deadlift.
Despite the nerves that come with competing for the first time, Neebin did an outstanding job channeling her energy into her performance. In the squat, she went a perfect 3-for-3 while setting a new personal best with a 117.5 kg lift. She followed that up by once again going 3-for-3 in the bench press, earning another personal best with a 65 kg bench.
To cap off an incredible day, Neebin completed a perfect 3-for-3 performance in the deadlift as well, setting yet another personal best with an impressive 157.5 kg lift.
Finishing the competition with a flawless 9-for-9 performance, Neebin also captured first place in her weight class.
Neebin trains at Vision High Performance Center in North Bay and is coached by long-time coach Danny Gosselin.
An incredible first competition and an amazing performance overall. Neebin is already looking forward to her next event.
