Grove led the American League in wins in four separate seasons, in strikeouts seven years in a row, and had the league's lowest earned run average a record nine times.
With a 79-15 record, Grove led the Athletics to three AL championships straight, won the pitcher’s Triple Crown twice, and led the league in wins, strikeouts, and ERA between 1929 and 1931.
In his 17-year MLB career Grove won 300 games.
Considered one of the MLB’s greatest pitchers, he was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947.
