SafeTALK is a su***de prevention workshop that teaches people how to recognize the signs that someone may be thinking about su***de, confidently start a conversation, and connect them with appropriate support.

At the workshop people will learn simple, powerful steps to recognize signs of su***de, start the conversation and connect someone to further support.

More specifically people will:
โ€ข Learn to notice and respond to invitations for help
โ€ข Practice open, direct conversations about su***de
โ€ข Build confidence to connect someone with further care and support
โ€ข Explore how your attitudes and beliefs can affect your ability to help
โ€ข Work together in a safe, supportive environment with other who care about making a difference

Rivers West District wishes Savannah Sutherland the very best of luck as she represents Saskatchewan at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2.

A proud hometown athlete from Borden, Saskatchewan, Savannah will compete in the women's 400-metre hurdles. A 2024 Olympian, she will proudly wear the Maple Leaf once again as she makes her Commonwealth Games debut.

Savannah recently helped Canada secure a spot at the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing by helping her 4ร—400-metre relay team achieve a season-best performance at the World Athletics Relays.

The first round of the women's 400-metre hurdles takes place on July 29, with the final scheduled for July 31.

Congratulations, Savannah, on this incredible achievement. Your Rivers West District community is cheering you on every step of the way. Best of luck in Glasgow!

Rivers West District is proud to congratulate Andrea Ornawka, recipient of the 2026 Youth Water Safety Leader Community Champion Award.

This award recognizes Andreaโ€™s outstanding dedication, leadership, and passion for promoting water safety and strengthening sport, culture, and recreation within our communities. Through her commitment, she has made a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals across our District.

SSAI Tele-learning Workshops

For more information and to register go to https://saskseniors.com/workshops/

Saskatchewan Seniors Association Inc. (SSAI) is excited to announce that we have once again received funding from the Government of Canadaโ€™s New Horizons for Seniors Program.

SSAI will use this funding to offer a series of Tele-learning workshops on topics relevant to seniors aging with dignity and independence. This project will help older adults learn new skills, increase their knowledge, make connections with others, and also engage them in volunteering and sharing their knowledge with others.
It is important to support seniors living in rural or remote areas in Saskatchewan by promoting digital literacy skills and using technology to connect to a broader community.

We encourage seniors to register to attend these free online workshops and complete the post-event surveys to provide valuable feedback to help us improve as we proceed with this project.
