As the owner of Civil Safety, I’ve had the privilege of serving Canada’s hunting and sport shooting community for over 15 years. From our roots in Ontario, we’ve worked tirelessly to provide you with hard-to-find parts, magazines, and now an expanded range of camping, survival, and outdoor accessories. However, our industry—and your way of life—are under unprecedented threat from the federal government’s ongoing attacks on the Canadian fi****ms community.
With a federal election just weeks away in April 2025, the stakes have never been higher. Over the past decade, the Liberal government has systematically targeted law-abiding fi****ms owners and businesses like ours with measures like Bill C-21 and sweeping prohibitions. The Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights (CCFR) has called this “the largest, most comprehensive federal court challenge on behalf of Canadian gun owners in history,” highlighting the Liberals’ relentless push to dismantle our rights and livelihoods. The Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association (CSAAA) warns that these policies threaten thousands of jobs and a multi-billion-dollar industry, stating, “Canadians need to be concerned about a government that feels it can prohibit personal property from lawful citizens without justification.” Meanwhile, the Canadian Shooting Sports Association (CSSA) notes that since 2015, the Liberals have “incrementally and intentionally destroyed our community, our culture, our heritage, and prohibited our access to fi****ms that have been legal for generations.”
A Conservative government, led by Pierre Poilievre, offers hope. Poilievre has pledged to repeal Bill C-21 and other restrictive laws, a commitment the CSSA emphasizes as a clear alternative to “Liberal lunacy on the fi****ms issue.” This election is our chance to reverse the damage and secure a future where your passion for hunting, sport shooting, and the outdoors can thrive.
