Our kids mat last weekend. Out of the multitude of kids in class, only 3 got a gold medal. 3 got a silver. 3 got bronze. Not every child won a prize. Those who worked and pushed the hardest were rewarded with these medals, and believe us, they wanted them.
More importantly, as we spoke in class the next day to those children who went away with nothing, we talked about the importance of having a POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH FAILURE. How to assess where you came up short and improve yourself for next time. Learning how to think under pressure and learning how to understand, process, and improve on your shortcomings is important.
These arent just jiu jitsu skills. These are Real Life Skills.
