Hi there,

I hope you have had a great start to 2023 and are looking forward to the warmer weather that is hopefully fast approaching!

I am sending out this email on behalf of myself and Nicole to update you on our plans for this summer. As you may or may not know, Nicole is a nursing student and will be working this summer in a hospital to gain more nursing experience. I have been in the UK since last August completing my teachers' college degree and will be returning home in mid-July. I have decided to teach 4 weeks of swimming lessons this summer before I start my teaching career this upcoming school year.

I plan on teaching two sessions of lessons, and in both sessions, Fridays will be reserved as a makeup day only in the case of a lesson being canceled because of thunderstorms.

Session 1: July 24th - August 3rd
The first session will begin on Monday the 24th of July, running every day (Monday-Thursday) for two weeks. The prices for 8 total lessons are $180 per child for semi-private lessons and $220 per child for private lessons.

Session 2: August 8th - August 17th
Due to the long weekend, the second session will begin on Tuesday the 8th of August. This session will be 7 lessons, and if there is no need for a thunderstorm makeup lesson on a Friday, I will happily add on an 8th lesson for $20. Semi-private lessons for this session will cost $160 per child for the 7 lessons, and private lessons will cost $200 per child for the 7 lessons.

This summer, I cannot commit to traveling for lessons so they will all be taking place in my backyard pool (315 Brimson Drive, Newmarket).

Hello everyone,

We hope you’ve had a great start to 2022. I know it’s snowy and cold outside but it’s never too early to start thinking about summertime! We are planning on teaching lessons again this summer and will be starting the registration process this week. As always, we will be teaching in our backyard and offering traveling swimming lessons if you would prefer that we come to you.

We will be following the Lifesaving Society program which ranges from “Preschool 1” to “Star Patrol”. We are also currently working out how we can provide the Bronze qualifications (Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross), so if you are planning on registering your children for one of those, please reach out and we can send you more information.

As a reminder, our sessions are two weeks long and include 8 lessons, Monday-Thursday with Friday being reserved as a makeup day incase of thunderstorms.

Our sessions for this summer will be:

Session 1 (after school): June 6th - 16th
Session 2 (after school): June 20th - 30th
Session 3: July 4th - July 14th
Session 4:July 18th - July 28th
Session 5: August 8th - August 19th

This summer, Hayley will only be teaching sessions 2,3 and 4 as she will be leaving in August to head to the UK for teachers college. Therefore, our space in session 5 will be slightly more limited.

Our prices for this summer are as follows:

$220 per session for a traveling private (1:1)
$200 per session for a private (1:1)
$180 per session for a traveling semi private (1:2)
$160 per session for a semi private (1:2)
$240 for the Bronze Star course
$260 for the Bronze Medallion/cross course

Happy New Year everyone! I know the last year has been very strange and challenging, but we hope you all had a lovely holiday. We are very excited to announce that The Fishers' Swim School will be back in business this summer!

Although we don't fully know what this summer will look like we can still guarantee that our lessons will be covid safe and follow all the safety protocols.

Our sessions will run for two weeks, compiled of eight 30 minute lessons from Monday - Thursday with Friday being left open in case of weather cancellations.

We will have two after school sessions -
June 7th-17th
June 18th - July 1st
The lessons will be offered between 3pm and 7pm.

We are also offering all day sessions, the times will depend on what is available once you put in your request.
July 5th - 15th
July 19th-29th
Aug 9th - 19th

The prices for these lessons will depend on whether you want us to come teach in your pool (traveling) or whether you come to our backyard pool!
Traveling Private - $200
Traveling Semi-Private (2 kids around the same level) - $160 per kid
Private - $180
Semi-Private - $140 per kid

If you have older kids and would like to register them for a Bronze course we are also certified to teach those levels as well!
The price for Bronze Star with First Aid is $220 which will need to be 1 hour long.
The price for Bronze Medallion with First Aid is $240 which will need to be 2 hours long.

We will cater to your needs! We have several options for both swimming lessons and lifeguarding services. We want to do what is best for you and for the swimmers!

Below are our options for swimming lessons and lifeguarding:
Option A: If you work from home, have a pool in your backyard and need to get work done during the day, we will travel to you and lifeguard the pool while your children swim!

Option B: if you have a backyard pool, we can come to you and teach your children swimming lessons from the comfort of your own backyard! We teach both private and semi-private swimming lessons

Option C: We teach will teach private and semi-private swimming lessons in our heated, underground backyard pool.

Option D: We can teach Bronze Star and Bronze Medallion courses and can certify Basic and Emergency first aid along with those courses, or separately.

We follow the lifesaving society swim program, and can teach preschool levels, swimmer levels 1-6 and all three Rookie, Ranger and Star Patrol levels. This swim program is the same one taught in Newmarket, Richmond Hill and Bradford, and the levels can easily be transferred from the Red Cross program which is taught in Aurora. These lessons will be taught in 8 half hour lessons, over the span of two weeks. If your child is new to swimming lessons, we are happy to assess them to ensure they are placed in the right level!

Parent and tot and preschool swim levels are for children aged 0-5 years old who are just learning to swim. The swimmer levels are for children older than 5 or who have completed the preschool levels. The Bronze medal awards are the first steps in the process to becoming a lifeguard, and can be completed at the age of 12 or if all the swimmer and patrol levels are complete.

For the parent and tot, preschool and swimmer levels, one session of lessons is 8 half hour swim lessons. For the bronze level courses, lessons will be taught in 8 one-hour lessons for bronze star and 8 two-hour lessons for bronze medallion.

Price list:
Traveling lifeguard: $22/hour
Traveling swim instructor: $180 (private lessons), $140 (semi-private lessons)
Private lessons: $160 per child per session
Semiprivate lessons: $120 per child per session
Bronze star with basic first aid: $200
Bronze medallion with emergency first aid: $220

Meet our instructors/lifeguards!

Hayley
Hayley is a 2020 University of Guelph graduate, who has been working in aquatics for 5 years. She taught lessons and was a lifeguard with the Town of Newmarket in 2015 and 2016. She has been working as a swim staff at Kettleby Valley Camp for the past five years, and in 2019 she was their Waterfront Director. Hayley has experience teaching all ages and levels of swimming from infants to adults, as well as first aid courses and the Bronze Medal Awards.

Nicole
Nicole is a 2020 high school graduate who will be attending Trent University in the fall for nursing. She has been working as a lifeguard and swim instructor with the Town of Newmarket for two years, and has experience teaching all ages and swim levels, from infants to adults, as well as the Bronze Medal Awards.

Welcome to our page!

We are two nationally certified lifeguards and swim instructors who want to provide swimming lessons, lifeguarding services as well as bronze medal award and first aid courses to children of all ages and swimming abilities.

Our goal is to teach swimming lessons and water safety from our backyard pool in a socially distant manner so that children can continue to learn and remain active with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We are also willing to provide remote lifeguarding services or teach lessons from your backyard.
