Crazy week.
I would like to begin by saying I am so thankful and very fortunate to have some incredible people in my life. I want to mention a few before I talk fishing as to me nothing like this happens without some help.
First my wife Laurie, our get it wet team, my fishing tournament clients/team, Roman Horak and a bunch of friends who we had some very good talks before and during the event to help me get through
For some that don’t know Charlie my father, fishing partner and tournament angler passed away last Monday. 4 days ahead of the final leg of the king of the lake tournament
We had to dig deep to get all the final prep stuff done and continue to move forward. This was no easy task. Some of the toughest work to do is just trying to smile and have patience.
Come tournament time I was pretty tired and Roman our scorekeeper and computer brain was heading our way so I said step in and fish with us ( I was fishing with charter clients/friends ) Gimme a hand please and he was awesome. Our team was flawless dropping only one fish on Saturday on a day full of misses by many, ( I think we may have had a bit of help up above )
When the dust settled, we took home the win! Not only the win we took home the win with a monster box for this season. 120.60 lbs for our best 6. On the way to the weigh-in, one of the guys said « today went so well our next 6 fish were a 16lb average. » Crazy day of fishing to say the least.
Let’s put this catch this in perspective and what it brought us.
1st place main event
1st place big shooter
1st place high performance
1st place big box sat
And a huge feather in our cap was
1st place team of the year overall winner ( total points over multiple le tournaments )
Let me finish by saying this. The money won is very nice. But having my wife and good friends come up on stage with tears in their eyes feeling the emotions I was is something I will never ever forget. For that I want to say thank you from my heart.
