🔥 DON’T LET THE SAUCE SLOW YOU DOWN.

A sauce pass is harder to control because the puck arrives off the ice. The goal isn’t simply to catch it—it’s to control it directly into the next scoring action.

👀 Track the puck early
👐 Cushion the first touch with soft hands
🏒 Use quick touches to move it into space
🦶 Keep the feet active
🎯 Change the shooting lane and release quickly

Great players don’t receive the puck, stop and reset. They connect the reception, puck movement and shot into one fluid sequence.

Soft touch. Quick feet. Fast release.

🔥 BEAT THE STICK—WITHOUT LOSING SPEED.

Elite puck control isn’t about adding more moves. It’s about moving the puck into space and skating into the opening you create.

⚡ Attack the pressure with speed
🏒 Move the puck outside the defender’s reach
↔️ Separate the puck from your body
🦶 Change your skating line
🚀 Accelerate through the exit

The key: move the puck first—then let your feet attack the space.

Fewer touches. Less hesitation. More game speed.

🚨Great hockey players don’t simply execute faster—they recognize the right solution earlier🚨

At Euro Elite Hockey Development, we believe skill training must include more than predetermined routes and rehearsed patterns. Players need to scan, read pressure, evaluate their options and execute the right play at game speed.
These five drills develop meaningful decisions in every area of the ice:

1️⃣ Pressure-Read Retrieval
Read the forecheck and choose the best breakout option.

2️⃣ Three-Lane Defensive-Zone Escape
Identify the open exit while protecting possession.

3️⃣ Regroup or Attack
Recognize when an advantage exists—and when it is time to reorganize.

4️⃣ Entry Decision Game
Carry, pass, delay or place the puck based on defensive gap and back pressure.

5️⃣ Offensive-Zone Second-Action Game
Improve the scoring opportunity through movement, deception and rebound recovery.

The diagram is only the starting point. The real skill is seeing what the game gives you.
Change the space, pressure, support, player numbers and scoring system so athletes must solve the problem—not simply memorize the drill.
After each repetition, ask:
“What did you see?”
“What option did the pressure remove?”
“What could you do differently next time?”
Teach the game—not just the drill.
Save this carousel for your next practice and share it with a coach who believes in developing intelligent hockey players.
