Royal City Curling Club

For over 50 years, the Royal City Curling Club has brought the highest quality curling experience to New Westminster! The building is still being used today.

The four-sheet curling club originally named the New Westminster Curling Club was built in 1955 on the Scott Paper site, subsequently sold in May 1965 to Scott Paper and converted to a warehouse for paper products. Construction of the now Royal City Curling Club began in August 1965 and was completed early January 1966, just in time for the annual Dogwood bonspiel. The club’s first President was G

eorge Reid, the first manager was Bob Kelly, and the first ice maker was Don Bowman. Renovations were performed on the club in 1987, 1994 and again in 2013.

Special shoutout to The Exchange cover band who performed at our 21st Annual Donspiel! 🎤 Our curlers, friends, and families enjoyed their wide range of music and closed out the bar at 2AM every night. What a way to end off the season!

These photos also showcase our lounge and bar area, complete with a spacious dance floor, ample seating, and multiple monitors throughout the room. This past weekend was very exciting for the Royal City Curling Club! Congratulations to Team Gushulak and Team Comadina on their podium finishes at the 2026 BC Club Championships 🥈🥉

Additionally, a huge round of applause for Sandra Comadina for receiving the Fair Play Award! Our club values kindness and good sportsmanship above all else. You have made us all very proud!

It's officially day 1 of Rock League! 🥌 The Royal City Curling Club is excited to see the rise of professional curling and we can’t wait to see how the competition unfolds.

To celebrate, we’re throwing it back to a couple of weeks ago when Rachel Homan and Brendan Bottcher joined us for a practice session during the 2026 Mixed Doubles Championship. It was an incredible experience hosting such top talent at our club!
