BULLYING ISN’T “JUST PART OF GROWING UP.”
For too many kids, school can become a place where they feel anxious, isolated, embarrassed, or afraid.
🇨🇦 32% of students in Canada reported experiencing bullying in 2024— the highest level recorded in the Canadian Health Behaviour in School-aged Children survey.
And the effects can go far beyond the schoolyard.
Bullying is associated with:
• Increased anxiety and depression
• Lower self-esteem and life satisfaction
• Loneliness and decreased well-being
• Poorer school performance and school connectedness
So what can we do?
We can help our kids develop the confidence and resilience to handle difficult situations.
🥋 Martial arts can be part of that journey.
The goal isn’t to teach kids to go looking for fights.
It’s to teach them to stand tall.
To develop discipline.
To build confidence.
To learn boundaries.
To stay calm under pressure.
To believe in themselves.
To respect others.
And to know that they are capable of overcoming challenges.
A child who walks into the academy nervous or unsure can gradually discover something powerful:
“I am stronger than I thought I was.”
Every class is an opportunity to grow—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.
If your child is struggling with bullying, don’t wait for them to simply “toughen up.” Talk with them. Listen. Involve the school and trusted adults. And give them positive environments where they can build confidence and supportive relationships.
