From a mid-summer day at the Mike Schout Wetlands Preserve in New Hamburg. I can’t wait to visit again in September or October. The colours should be so warm an lovely.

It was a gorgeous morning on Lake Belwood. I have hiked and biked through the conservation area in the past, but this was my first time on the water.

The sun was bright, and the water was much warmer than I expected it to be. The wind was strong though, and even without the wake created by the boats speeding by, there were some waves.

It was a great spot to kayak, but next time I would paddle further into the lake earlier, before all the boats get going.

This is probably one of my favorite finds while kayaking this year. Up until this point anyways. It is unlikely I would have seen this unless I was on the water.

I stumbled upon the beautiful natural area while I was kayaking on the Nith River in New Hamburg on Sunday.

The Mike Schout Wetlands Preserve is a fun and educational nature area. The boardwalk has lots of facts about the wildlife that lives there.

This was a great spot to explore and the lookout over the confluence of the Speed River and Grand River will likely go into my top 10 list of lookouts.

If you are looking for a short hike and incredible views along the Grand River head to Settler's Fork and Linear Park in Cambridge.

This is really cool! I have only visited Point Pelee twice. I’d love to get there this summer with the kayaks though.

I often try to get outside over lunch and walk or explore surrounding areas. This was last week, and I could have used much more than an hour in the area.

Perhaps a repeat needs to be added to the calendar.

Getting out in the kayaks at Rockwood Conservation Area last weekend was incredible. The perspective of the glacial bluffs and cliffs from the water is so different from how you see them when hiking. It's hard to not feel small and insignificant when you are right up beside them.

If you are looking for a nice easy route to paddle, kayaking at Rockwood Conservation Area is a great choice!
