This feisty smallmouth bass gobbled a 5 inch live shiner minnow, rigged simply with an octopus hook and small splitshot on 10lb line. The bait was cast out over the bottom edge of a drop off reaching around 15 feet, and was barely given any time to sink down before getting absolutely hammered by this hungry, aggressive little football. After a short yet hard fought battle, we reeled in this power-packed beauty of a smallie. Cannot remember exactly what it weighed but it was more than 3 and less than 3.5. Maybe 3.25-3.4 or so. Definitely one of the nicest bass I've ever caught.
