Nice couple pounder to start off the morning! From what I've seen, live bait rigs are not talked about as often online. There are many ways to present live bait, and I often opt for a Lindy rig or something similar because:

I can cover water slowly, allowing those finicky fish enough time to react to the bait.

I'm fishing right near bottom. Without certain technology it can be very hard to find suspended fish, so I simply target the ones I know I'll find near bottom.

Sometimes I really like to just sit and wait for a fish to bite, instead of forcing a reaction strike. Live bait is the most relaxing kind of fishing, for me personally.

Here's my PB pickerel (walleye) from 2022. Caught in northern Muskoka in 40 feet of water on this stunna 112+x1. Honestly I have no idea what I was doing casting this thing so far from any visible structure, but hey, it worked so whatever 😂

Bigger minnows aren't always better in my opinion. Do you prefer a hook and a sinker or a jighead when minnow fishing? I'm usually a hook and sinker guy

Headed out to check my minnow trap for shiners. If no shiners, I'm pulling the trap and I'll drop it somewhere else tonight.

*pic unrelated* this pike weighed just under 8 pounds, caught from shore with a 3inch paddletail on a 1/4oz red/white jighead. I had been catching a couple bass in this spot, then suddenly the bass bite died and then a few casts later bang! I'm hooked into a 6lb pike. "Nice," I thought, releasing it back into the water. Not 5 minutes later in the same spot, WHAM this fish was clearly bigger than the last. This pike was one of the hardest fighting fish I've ever caught, easily in the top 5.

What you can't quite see from the picture, are the hundreds of blackflies around me, in my hair, eyes, under my shirt, going in my ears and nose. It would have been annoying if the fishing wasn't so good!!
