It took eating 20 cookies to get me to my goal weight — why idolizing your trainer is unhealthy for both of us.

Ok, this isn’t the full story — but headlines never are. After losing too much weight last year during a difficult time, I’ve been working towards a healthier, stronger version of myself.

I’m back to strength training heavier again after months of patiently, consistently adding pounds to the bar. IT TAKES TIME AND CONSISTENT WORK. 💪

I’m back to eating bigger meals after months of force-feeding myself a few extra calories at every opportunity. IT TAKES TIME AND—YOU GUESSED IT—CONSISTENT WORK. 😉

My insatiable appetite that I’ve had since childhood sharply decreased for a while, but it’s finally made a comeback. This didn’t just happen overnight. Like motivation, you don’t just wake up with it — you build it with discipline.
I needed to positively impact my metabolism by consistently eating more food and adding muscle back to my body through regular resistance training.

This weekend I devoured my turkey dinner and then proceeded to eat allllll the cookies my partner made for Thanksgiving! 😂😂😂

My clients will tell you I’ve never put too much stock into the number on the scale. But after feeling less nourished this past year, I knew I needed to use it regularly to track my progress. The scale isn’t inherently evil 😈 — it’s just often used in harmful ways.

It’s hard to speak vulnerably about our bodies. Fitness professionals are not immune to this or to the same life challenges that throw your physical or mental health off course. Yet, barely any of us talk about it.

There’s this unspoken stigma that we should be stronger than normal humans — that we should have total control over our bodies and lives at all times.
Spoiler alert 🚨: we don’t. 😂

Your trainer isn’t superhuman. We go through the same s**t as everyone else — we just often do it under a façade of perfection and control. That’s not healthy.
We all need to stop masking on social media and start being more real. A little honesty would be a lot healthier for clients and trainers alike.
Let’s aim for respect rather than idolization. 🙏🏼🔥💕

Preparing at least a portion of your meals in advance is one of THE KEYS TO SUCESS for making major changes to your body, or your health.

Whether you have an aesthetic goal or are trying to lose or gain weight, increase your muscle mass, lean out , decrease blood sugar or pressure-

NUTRITION counts . And the EASIEST way to maintain consistency with your diet is to prepare some meals in advance so it’s too convenient to NOT eat those healthy meals .

A lot of people think meal prep has to be boring …. NOOO ! If it’s boring, you’re doing it wrong 🤷🏼‍♀️

Over the next 6 days I’m going to give you 6 ways you can make your meal prep more interesting, attractive, fun . In other words … SEXIER 😍😋🤩

These are some of my best secrets ! Make sure you save them for later .

Today is #1

1) Try recipes from cultures other than your own
🇫🇮🇨🇦 🇹🇹 🇧🇧 🇯🇲 🇮🇳 🇯🇵 🇨🇳 🇵🇪 🇪🇸 🇹🇭 (my heritage and some countries whose cuisine I cook on the REGULAR)

Pictured here is the pad Thai I made this weekend. This dish is high in protein (chicken, tofu, shrimp, egg) and low in starchy carbohydrates. It’s low calories if you’re keeping track of those . it’s also easy to make and delicious 🤤

I regularly learn new recipes by traveling , supporting local ethnic restaurants and befriending or dating people of different ancestry than my own😉🤷🏼‍♀️.

Or, use Google, Pinterest or you tube to search out millions of recipes. Follow cooking accounts and channels that you like . It’s fun, and you will learn a lot and gain so much variety in your cooking .

EAGLES VS. TURKEYS

A few years ago
I took a course from legendary coach Mathew Park - Coach] on leadership mindset and setting yourself up for success.

Side note - the course was free to all competitors that had just competed the night before in a big natural bodybuilding, bikini, physique and fitness show. WE WERE EXHAUSTED, but a handful of us showed up all the same .

The biggest take away for me was when Matt asked us to identify 10 turkey and 10 eagle types in our lives .

Turkeys : gossipy, Judgemental, insecure, victim mindset personalities .

Eagles: concerned with their own path, not involved in negativity or gossip. Always working on their self awareness, their success. Confident and non judgmental , lift others up

It’s funny because I had my 10 eagles written down very quickly .

I have been blessed with family, clients and friends that I also consider mentors .

It took me forever to even name 5 turkeys, because I don’t keep these types around me closely .

We don’t vibe . 🤷🏼‍♀️

Looking around the room at the competitors that decided to spend our first Sunday post show at this leadership course, I couldn’t help but notice we’d all won medals the night before . Each of them was humble in their victory, and kind to everyone around them .

There were a lot of damn eagles in that room looking for more ways to improve.

It’s ok if your inner circle is tight . It’s ok to want to do better, be better, be happier, bring more happiness to others .

This New Year’s Eve we stayed home.

Today I’m vision boarding and planning my goals for the upcoming year . I’ve got some BIG goals for 2022.

Im going to be real with you, this is going to be a daunting climb after an emotionally and financially TOUGH couple years of lockdowns, etc.

To those of you (us) who’ve been THROUGH IT this year- I feel you , I see you. We made it this far… let’s just keep going, yea? 🤷🏼‍♀️😉🤷🏼‍♀️

BUMS & MOMS🍑🍑

Couple things you may not know about me :

1) I’m obsessed with glute (butt muscle) training . In EVERYONE. I wrote an entire article about the importance of strong glutes a few years ago for .

2) beyond my BSc in kinesiology, I studied pre/post natal exercise under (waaaay back before she was famous) and the amazing women of .

Training post natal people is such a beautiful challenge. There is SO much to tackle: postural changes , pelvic floor prolapse, diastasis, weak glutes, sleep deprivation, identity changes , physical and emotional trauma. To name a few 😰

It’s not an easy, quick fix kinda thing .

But when all the small steps of the work we do together start paying off and my clients start telling me they are feeling more confident and connected to their bodies again - it’s worth it.

Pictured above is my client Dez and I taking a butt selfie 🤣🤣because she’s looking fine and cannot stop checking herself out in the mirror!!

Dez is the mama of 3 year old twins . Always athletic, she competed for years in high level gymnastics and did CrossFit. Dez is a massage therapist and VERY body aware . After her pregnancy she struggled to feel… like herself in her body .

Over the last few months of working together I can see her changing , feeling like Dez again .

It’s such an amazing journey and I feel blessed to be a part of it .
