❤️💚 The Story of Bengal United Cricket Club 🏏

Every club has a beginning, but Bengal United was never created just to play cricket. It started with a much bigger purpose.

Back in 2003, Bhaskar Deychoudhury saw that many young people in our community needed something positive to be part of. The 2003 Cricket World Cup brought everyone together and sparked an idea. What started as friends watching cricket late into the night soon turned into summer games at Atwater, learning about organized cricket, contacting the Quebec Cricket Federation, completing registrations and paperwork, and even travelling to Toronto to buy proper cricket equipment.

After nearly two years of work, Bengal United Cricket Club was officially born in 2005. The beginning was not easy. Wins were hard to come by, but the club kept going. That first victory in 2006 meant more than just a result on a scorecard. It gave the team confidence that Bengal United belonged and could compete.

From there, the club continued to grow. Bengal United became B Division champions, earned promotion to A Division, grew large enough to field two teams and in 2012 became A Division champions, earning promotion to the Premier Division. Over the years, Bengal United players have also had the opportunity to represent Quebec at interprovincial tournaments, with one player also representing Canada at the under 19 level.

But championships and promotions only tell part of the story. The real purpose was always to give young people in our community a positive environment, a team to belong to and something meaningful to work toward.

More than twenty years later, that idea is still alive.

More than a club, Bengal United was built to give young people a positive path, a sense of belonging and a lasting community. ❤️💚

A tournament can only grow when the community knows about it, and M S Ullah Koyel played an important role in making that happen.

From sharing updates and promoting the tournament to helping spread the word throughout the community, Koyel worked behind the scenes to make sure people knew what was happening with the Bengal United 6 A Side Tournament 2026.

We sincerely appreciate the time, effort and support he gave us as our Media Manager. His work helped us reach more people, create excitement around the tournament and keep our community connected to the event.
