Kyra began karate at just seven years old. After realizing that dance was not for her, her mother began searching for a different activity—and that search led Kyra to karate.
What started as a new sport soon became something much greater.
Through karate, Kyra discovered discipline, motivation, courage, friendship, and the importance of never giving up. She developed a love for competition and continued pushing herself, even when injuries made training and competing more difficult in recent years.
COVID brought another challenge. The dojo moved outdoors, classes went online, and everything changed. But Kyra continued to show up. She trained through uncertainty, adapted to new ways of learning, and even met the person who would become her best friend.
Over the past nine years, Kyra has learned far more than punches, kicks, and techniques. She has learned that progress comes from consistency, that courage means continuing when things are difficult, and that simply showing up for practice matters.
Senseis Saadi Abbas and Alexandru Sorin, her teammates, and her parents have supported her throughout this journey—but Kyra is the one who made the decision, again and again, to keep going.
Today, that perseverance has earned her a Black Belt.
This achievement represents years of dedication, challenges overcome, friendships built, and lessons that will remain with her for life. It is also only the beginning of the next chapter.
Congratulations, Kyra! Your dojo family is incredibly proud of the courageous, disciplined, and determined young woman you have become.
She began as a seven-year-old searching for the right sport. Today, she stands as a Black Belt who never gave up.
