From August 10th to 15th, Montréal had the honour of hosting the 7th International Jukendo & Tankendo Seminar — a first for both Canada and Montréal!

On behalf of myself and everyone at the Montréal Jukendo & Tankendo Club, it was a real privilege to organize and host this event. It was great to reconnect with our senseis and old friends, and to meet so many new people who travelled from around the world to train together.

A big thank you to the International Jukendo Federation for their continued support in helping Jukendo and Tankendo grow internationally. And a special thank you to Sato Sensei, Chiba Sensei, Kelsey Sensei, Tavernier Sensei and Larsen Sensei for sharing your knowledge and experience with us, and for your friendship throughout the week.

Congratulations as well to everyone who successfully passed their grading exams! 🎉
Du 10 au 15 août, Montréal a eu l’honneur d’accueillir le 7e séminaire international de Jukendo et Tankendo — une première au Canada et à Montréal !

En mon nom et au nom de tout le Club de Jukendo & Tankendo de Montréal, ce fut un réel privilège d’organiser et d’accueillir cet événement. Quel plaisir de retrouver nos senseis et de vieux amis, mais aussi de faire la connaissance de personnes venues des quatre coins du monde pour s’entraîner ensemble.

Un grand merci à la Fédération Internationale de Jukendo pour son soutien continu au développement du Jukendo et du Tankendo à l’international. Et un merci tout particulier à Sato Sensei, Chiba Sensei, Kelsey Sensei, Tavernier Sensei et Larsen Sensei pour leurs enseignements, leur expérience et leur amitié tout au long de la semaine.

Félicitations également à tous ceux qui ont réussi leur passage de grade ! 🎉

With the 7th International Jukendo & Tankendo Seminar starting tomorrow, participants have been arriving in MTL all day ahead of the official kickoff. Even though regular practice was officially canceled tonight, nothing could stop our visiting practitioners. They showed up at the dojo anyway to train, warm up, and connect!

A true testament to the passion, dedication, and spirit of this amazing community. Welcome to Montreal, everyone! Let’s make this seminar unforgettable. 🤺🔥
Alors que le 7e séminaire international de jukendo et tankendo s’apprête à débuter, les participants arrivent en ville la veille du lancement officiel. Même si l’entraînement régulier était officiellement annulé ce soir, rien n’a pu arrêter la motivation des pratiquants : ils se sont présentés au dojo malgré tout pour s’entraîner, s’échauffer et se retrouver !

C’est une incroyable preuve de dévouement, de détermination et d’esprit sportif. Bienvenue à Montréal à toutes et à tous, et excellent séminaire ! 🤺🔥

During one of our recent tankendo practices, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming two new faces stepping onto the floor to try jukendo and tankendo for the very first time. 🌱

We also celebrated a major milestone: Linden and Philippe’s official 1st kyu menjos have arrived straight from Japan! It was an incredible honor to present these certificates and stand proudly as their sempai. Your dedication is truly inspiring. 📜✨

With every strike and every drill, we are pushing ourselves to the limit to be fully prepared for the 7th International Jukendo & Tankendo Seminar, happening right here in Montreal from August 10th to August 15th. The energy in the dojo is electric, and we are ready for what’s ahead! 🔥

Lors de l'un de nos récents entraînements de tankendo, nous avons eu l'immense plaisir d'accueillir deux personnes qui venaient essayer le jukendo et le tankendo pour la toute première fois. 🌱

Nous avons également célébré une étape importante : les menjos officiels de 1er kyu de Linden et Philippe sont arrivés tout droit du Japon ! Ce fut un honneur incroyable de leur remettre ces certificats et d'être fiers d'agir en tant que leurs sempais. Votre dévouement est vraiment inspirant. 📜✨

À chaque frappe et à chaque exercice, nous repoussons nos limites pour être fin prêts pour le 7e Séminaire International de Jukendo & Tankendo, qui se tiendra ici même à Montréal du 10 au 15 août. L'énergie dans le dojo est électrique, et nous sommes prêts pour la suite ! 🔥

We had the privilege of welcoming the Ottawa Jukendo and Tankendo Club for a collaborative training session. A massive thank you to their leader, Miki Takashima, also the Regional Director for the Americas, for visiting us with such kindness. It was wonderful to practice together and prepare for the upcoming International Jukendo Seminar in Montreal this August. 🥋✨

Nous avons eu le privilège d'accueillir le Club d'Ottawa pour une session de formation conjointe. Un immense merci à leur instructrice, Miki Takashima, également directrice régionale pour l'Amérique, pour sa venue et sa gentillesse. C'était fantastique de pratiquer ensemble et de se préparer pour le Stage International de Jukendo à Montréal en août. 🥋✨

What a great weekend at the 2026 YATAI MTL Festival! 🌸🇯🇵

It was a pleasure to showcase Jukendo and Tankendo again this year. Thank you to the Yatai organizers for the warm welcome and for putting together such a fantastic event.

We’d also like to give a special thanks to our friends from the Ottawa Seishinkan Jukendo & Tankendo Club for joining us on the Saturday and helping with the demonstration. We really appreciated having you there!

Quel beau week-end au Festival YATAI MTL 2026 ! 🌸🇯🇵

Ce fut un plaisir de présenter le Jukendo et le Tankendo à nouveau cette année. Un grand merci aux organisateurs du Festival Yatai pour leur accueil chaleureux et pour avoir mis sur pied un événement aussi formidable.

Nous souhaitons également adresser un remerciement tout particulier à nos amis du Ottawa Seishinkan Jukendo & Tankendo Club pour leur présence le samedi et leur aide précieuse lors de la démonstration. Nous avons vraiment apprécié votre participation !

Announcement: This Sunday’s Jukendo & Tankendo practice is Canceled! 🌸
Happy Mother’s Day! We are prioritizing family this weekend and there will be no Jukendo or Tankendo practice this Sunday.
We hope all of our members and their families have a wonderful, restful day celebrating the amazing mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures in our lives. Thank you for all that you do!
Rest up and we will see you back in the dojo next week, ready to train! ⚔️🇯🇵

Bonne fête des Mères ! Nous donnons la priorité à la famille ce week-end et il n'y aura donc pas d'entraînement de Jukendo ou de Tankendo ce dimanche.

Full bogu Tankendo last week 🥷, a big milestone for MJTC! It was great to see everyone in their own zekken. We worked through the full ikkyu exam curriculum and finished with dai-san-geiko. 🥋
Entraînement de Tankendō en bogu complet la semaine dernière 🥷. C’est une grande étape pour le MJTC ! C’était super de voir tout le monde avec son propre zekken. Nous avons parcouru l’ensemble du programme d’examen d’ikkyu et terminé avec un dai-san-geiko. 🥋
