The Montreal Canadiens absolutely dominated the 1970s! 😳

Montreal won an incredible 24 playoff series during the decade, establishing one of the most dominant stretches in NHL history.

The Edmonton Oilers came close in the 1980s with 23 series victories, while the New York Islanders won 22 during that same decade.

And the Canadiens weren’t finished. Montreal added another 18 playoff series wins in the 1980s, proving their dynasty was about much more than just one incredible decade.

One year ago today, hockey lost Ken Dryden. 🙏🏼

Six Stanley Cups. Five Vezina Trophies. A Conn Smythe Trophy. A Hall of Fame career.

But Dryden became much more than a goaltender after leaving the ice—an author, executive, public servant and one of the sport’s most thoughtful voices.

For Canadiens fans, No. 29 will always mean something special.

One year later, Ken Dryden is still deeply missed. ❤️

Sid Seixeiro went off on NHL Network’s center rankings after Auston Matthews was placed ahead of Nick Suzuki. 👀

After Suzuki recorded 100 points, won the Selke Trophy and led Montreal as captain, Seixeiro argued there’s no justification for ranking Matthews above him right now:

“NHL Network has put Auston Matthews eighth—behind Sidney Crosby and in front of Nick Suzuki and Jack Hughes.

The Nick Suzuki move has gotten people in Montreal a little upset.

Nick Suzuki is a healthier player than Auston Matthews. Yes.

Nick Suzuki, having won the Selke Trophy, is a better defensive center than Auston Matthews. Yeah.

Nick Suzuki had 100 points last season. Did Matthews? Nope.

In what world is Auston Matthews, right now, a better center than Nick Suzuki? Someone explain that to me.

He’s slower. He’s more injury-prone. He’s worse defensively. He’s worse offensively.

What am I missing on this?

Nick Suzuki, I believe, is like the third center ever to have a 100-point season and win the Selke—like Fedorov and Doug Gilmour.

That list is a massive insult to Nick Suzuki. Definitely.
