The West Kent Junior A Steamers have announced that goaltender Xavier Farrah has committed to SMU Huskies for the 2026-27 season.
The 21-year-old from Moncton, N.B. was a Territorial Draft Pick by the Campbellton Tigers Jr. A Hockey Club (Official / Officielle) in the 2021 MHL Entry Draft. His first season with the club was in 2022-23, where he posted a record of 10-8-3-1 in 24 games with a 4.23 goals against average and an .881 save percentage. He was also named to the Eastlink North Team of the Week on one occasion.
Farrah played nine games with Campbellton to start the 2023-24 season with a 2-6-0-0 record, 4.28 goals against average, and an .872 save percentage before being traded to the Bage Valley Wildcats in December. With the Wildcats, Farrah had a 3-13-0-0 record in sixteen games to finish the season with a 5.99 goals against average and an .882 save percentage. He was named to the Eastlink South Team of the Week once with Valley.
In 2024-25, Farrah played in ten games with Valley, going 3-7-0-0 with a 4.81 goals against average and an .876 save percentage before being dealt to the Amherst Jr. 'A' Ramblers in late November. Farrah played 22 regular season games with the Ramblers, going 14-5-1-0 with a 3.60 goals against average and an .895 save percentage. He was named to the Eastlink South Team of the Week three times with the Ramblers. Farrah played in two playoff games for Amherst, going 0-1-0-0 with a 3.42 goals against average and an .826 save percentage.
Before the start of the 2025-26 season, Farrah was traded to West Kent. He played a career-high 39 games for the Steamers, going 21-8-4-3 with a 3.40 goals against average and an .899 save percentage. Farrah was named the league's Top Goaltender in September and was named to the Eastlink North team of the Week four times. His goals against average was eighth-best in the MHL and he had the fourth-most wins. In the playoffs, he was between the pipes in all four games as West Kent was swept by Edmundston.
