The Mayor is paying us a visit tomorrow

We're excited to share that Mayor Carolyn Parrish will be stopping by tomorrow for a surprise visit to recognize the incredible work
Master Ram and the youth karate & self-defense team have been doing.


True mixed martial artists always testing themselves in unique settings, they recently competed at the TKD International World Cup in Lethbridge, Alberta, and brought home great results.

Mississauga's Mayor Carolyn Parrish is scheduled to come by in person tomorrow Monday september 14th to congratulate the team on their achievement.

Because of the visit, all classes are cancelled Monday until 7pm. Specifically:

No Kids BJJ class at 5:15pm
No Beginners Karate at 6pm
No Gi class at 6pm

Our regular schedule resumes at 7pm with Adult Jiu-Jitsu and Youth Intermediate Karate.

🥋 Learning Never Stops

One of the values we try to reinforce at Elite mma is that no matter your rank or experience, there is always something to learn.

It was an honour to welcome Professor Diego Martins from KIHON Dojo B9 to our academy for a technical workshop. The seminar focused on refining fundamentals, improving positional understanding, and sharing the details that come from decades of experience on the mats.

These opportunities remind us that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a lifelong study. Training with experienced instructors helps us continue to grow, not only as practitioners, but also as coaches and students.

We're grateful to Professor Diego for sharing his knowledge and to everyone who attended with an open mind and a willingness to learn.

🏆 Congratulations to our Ferrer Karate Academy (905 Karate / Ferrer Defence System) athletes representing Applewood and Mississauga at the 2026 Tae Kwon-Do International World Cup in Lethbridge, Alberta, July 4–5! Our team departs tomorrow, and we could not be prouder.

This moment was built on countless after-hours training sessions led by Master Sensei Steven Ramkalawan (Master Ram), with incredible support from special guest instructors Grand Master Ken Hayashi (Karate), Grand Master Cees Kuekens (ITF Taekwondo), and Sensei Jorge Berrio (Karate). Their collaboration created an unmatched training atmosphere that pushed our athletes to compete at the highest level.
To every family who showed up early, stayed late, and supported this journey — thank you. This is your win too.
