We're shaking off the rust for race season a little earlier than usual this year!

Any guesses as you where we are this weekend? 🤔

We picked up another NA Miata because clearly we don’t learn...

This one might be familiar to some and showed up crashed, blown up, and emotionally damaged. But underneath the trauma? A perfect start to a budget build.😎

No fancy parts. Just (more) questionable decisions, cheap fixes, and getting it back on track where it belongs.

For anyone new here—or anyone who’s seen this blue Miata pop up without context—time to catch up.

Smurf came into our lives in March 2024, bought as a Spec Miata out of Philadelphia. We dragged it home, promptly ignored the word “spec,” and converted it into endurance race trim.
👉 Mosport 2024 was the debut. First race on a new platform, instant chemistry. We were hooked.
👉 Mosport 2025… same track, bigger goals. Running P2 with 30 minutes to go when the engine let go in spectacular fashion. Heartbreak, but also confirmation—we’re all in.
So what’s next?
🔧 2.4L Ecotec swap.
Because endurance racing rewards stubbornness, creativity, and questionable decisions.

More updates coming as Smurf enters its next era. Stay tuned.

Is it the end of an era or simply a new chapter in our story...? 🤔

We've been pretty quiet lately, and a lot has changed, but we sure aren't done yet! Stay tuned... the future is bright 😎

Day 2 update - we were ridiculously short staffed with 3 people to support 2 cars (incl drivers, this is all photos from the day) but we sent it anyway and fell in love with being able to corner with way more speed! The guys were running so hard, we broke the seat mount in the black car. Meanwhile, the rad cap problem for the smurf is permanently fixed! 👌

We wrapped up the day P4 in the endurance car after a challenging day on track! So close to the podium, but it wasn't meant to be! We'll give it another shot tomorrow and see if we can be in the lead after 8 hours of racing! 🏆

We're racing today at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park! No, you're not seeing double, we have both our Miatas at the track! The black car is running endurance and the blue car is here for sprint, just as a shakedown. Unfortunately just before the checkered flag, we lost a rad cap and had to pit. Looking for a replacement before tomorrow's race as the engine appears to be OK! 👌

For Immediate Release.
Apr 1, 2024.
DOT Motorsports is pleased to announce the shocking move to a traditional racecar platform with the recent acquisition of a Mazda Miata. The full transition will take place over the 2024 season, and the team is expected to compete for the LDRC Championship in 2025. "I pray for the competition in Lucky Dog Racing Canada, given the amount of trophies we've collected over the past few years while racing a pick-up truck" said team owner Tyler Vien. The team will remain closely associated with General Motors with further updates coming in the future.

In addition to the vehicle platform change, the team will rebrand to Smurf Motorsports in the future to match the current livery. 👀

Congratulations if you made it this far. Most of the above is true! 🤔
