In this morning’s intermediate semi finals;
Taymouth defeated Fredericton 6-4 while Hoyt turned away Nelson 6-5.
That sets up a Hoyt vs Taymouth provincial final which is now underway!

Attention:
Due to the forecast on Sunday the provincials playoff round schedule has been adjusted;
Both seminfinals will begin at 9AM
1st vs 4th will be at the King Field
2nd vs 3rd will be at the Doyle Field

Doyle field - Hoyt vs Nelson
Both to start at 9AM

The Provincial Finals will follow these games at the King Field at approximately 11:30 when both teams are ready.

After a few weeks of bad weather come out tonight for men’s fastpitch action at king field as the Nelson Nitro play the Newcastle Phantoms at 7pm and the Nelson Schooners at 9pm.💥🥎

Last week the Phantoms went 2-0 in two fast-paced ball games on Thursday night.

Game 1: 🟢Nitro 2-5 🟠Phantoms

The pitchers came out strong in this one as Devon Mckenzie and Jeremy Arsenault were both scoreless through two innings. Things would open up in the 3rd as the Nitro scored first behind a Ransen Harris solo Homerun, but were outdone in the bottom half by 3 base hits which would lead to 3 runs scored.

The Nitro were threatening in the 4th inning with the bases loaded, but none other than ex-Nitro Brandon Murphy made a great snag on a Dustin Tozer liner to rob him of a base hit and end the inning. The Nitro would add 1 more run off a Logan Wilt RBI triple but Brett Young came in for the final 3 innings to close things out for the Phantoms. They would also add some insurance in the 5th behind an Evan Pugh 2RBI Homerun (exit velo 110mph).

Game 2: 🔵Schooners 6-12 🟠Phantoms

The Schooners came out swinging to start the late game as they put up 4 runs on three hits and a couple of walks in the top of the 1st. Andrew Gallant was dominant for them on the mound for 3 innings, striking out 7 while allowing no runs on just one hit.

Ashley Cosgrove came in to pitch for the Schooners in the 4th inning, and although he only allowed 1 hit in the 4th the Phantoms managed to score 4 runs behind a slew of uncharacteristic errors in the field. The Phantoms , tacking on 2 more in the 5th and a whopping 6 runs in the 6th to put the game out of reach

This past Thursday saw the Nelson Schooners go 1-1 in their first double header of the season.

Game 1: 🔵Schooners 3-2 🟢Nitro

Dan Goodin was a horse in this one throwing a complete game gem, but he was outdone by Schooner pitchers Andrew Gallant and Ashley Cosgrove who combined to throw 7 impresive innings of 5-hit ball. Gallant also provided the go-ahead RBI single in the 6th that proved to be the difference.

Game 2 🔵Schooners 5-11 🟠Phantoms

This game started slow as well but picked up momentum after a monsterous 4th inning that seen 14 batters come to the plate, 8 of whom wohld score. The brunt of the damage coming off back to back triples by Mike Simon and Evan Pugh, as well as a Chris Watt double off the wall to help his cause. The Schooners would add a few runs in the bottom half of the 5th behind a Brandon Normand Homerun, but it wouldn't be enough to close the gap.

Two close games last night had the Nelson Nitro going 1-1 to start the season.

Game 1: 🟢Nitro 8-7 🟠Phantoms

The Phantoms got off to an early start scoring 2 runs in the first inning. Not to be outdone, the Nitro answered back in the 2nd inning scoring 6 runs while bringing 10 hitters to the plate, capped off by a Justin Robb 2-RBI knock.

🟢Dan Goodin - 3IP, 5K, 4H, 4BB, 4ER

Game 2: 🟢Nitro 8-9 🔵Schooners

Another bad 1st inning for the Nitro had them giving up 4 runs behind doubles by Matt Hovey, Brandon Normand and Ashley Cosgrove. Ransen Harris answered back by hitting the first Homerun of the season in the bottom half. The Nitro played from behind all game and although they managed to bring the score within 1 in both the 4th and the 6th, it was to no avail as Ashley Cosgrove was able to work his way out of a jam in the 6th inning to earn himself the Complete Game Victory.
