With an 88-53 loss, the Hericanes season comes to an end. Congratulations to the Moncton Mystics who now move on to the Pro-Line Stadium Legacy Cup Final 4 in Fredericton.

The Hericanes organization would like to thank their incredible fan base, sponsors and volunteers for all of their support during the 2026 season. Also a huge thank you to the young ladies who donned the green and orange for the Hericanes this year. It is not always easy to make the commitment, but we are very grateful you did. 🏀 HERICANES PLAYOFF BASKETBALL 🏀

The defending MWBA Champion Miramichi Hericanes are set to begin their playoff journey this Sunday, June 14, when they travel to Crandall University to take on the first-place Moncton Mystics in a New Brunswick Division semifinal matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.

After capturing the MWBA Championship last season, the Hericanes entered 2026 facing a major rebuilding year with only one returning player in Kassidy Hamilton. Despite finishing fourth in the New Brunswick Division with a 2-8 record, this young Miramichi squad has continued to improve throughout the season and enters the playoffs healthy, motivated, and ready to chase an upset against one of the league’s top teams.

The Hericanes are led offensively by current CCAA National Player of the Year Charlee Connors, who paced Miramichi with 11.8 points per game during the regular season. Ava Sprague followed closely at 11.4 points per game, while Lexi MacInnis contributed 10.8 points per game and Ainsley Green added 9.7 points per contest.

The Mystics enjoyed a strong regular season, finishing atop the New Brunswick Division with a 7-3 record and earning the right to host their first MWBA playoff game. Moncton is led by MWBA scoring champion Maddie Eustace, who averaged an impressive 20.6 points per game, while Eve Kalala added 14.5 points per game.

The Mystics won both regular-season meetings between the two clubs, including an 84-74 victory in the most recent matchup at Crandall University. However, the Hericanes have shown significant growth throughout the season and will look to put together their best performance when it matters most.

Winner advances to the Pro-Line Stadium Legacy Cup Final Four in Fredericton.

Our Miramichi Hericanes dropped their final home game of the regular season to the Moncton Mystics on Saturday night by a score of 90-61.

Miramichi battled hard early and trailed by just two points after the opening quarter, 20-18. The Mystics began to create separation in the second quarter, outscoring the Hericanes 22-10 to take a 42-28 lead into halftime.

The third quarter proved to be the turning point as Moncton’s offense found another gear. The Mystics poured in 27 points while holding the Hericanes to 19, extending their advantage to 69-47 heading into the final frame. Moncton continued to control the pace in the fourth quarter, finishing off the 29-point win.

The Hericanes were led offensively by Ava Sprague with 13 points, while Eden Searles added 12. Charlee Connors and Lexi MacInnis each chipped in 10 points, with Lauren Wallace contributing 9. Noella Thomas and Kassidy Hamilton each finished with 3 points, while Maika LeBlanc added 1 point in the contest.

The Mystics were paced by Maddie Eustace and Eve Kalala, who each scored 18 points. Jesse McCarron added 12 points, while Sadie Bowen, Lindsay Black, Emily McNeil, and Jenna Jones each contributed 9. Kate Fillmore finished with 4 points, and Bella Taylor rounded out the scoring with 2 points.

Miramichi will now shift its focus to the postseason as they look to regroup heading into playoff action next Sunday, June 14th in Moncton.
