Hope you all got a chance to enjoy the long weekend and the great weather we had! I spent a big part of it exploring local gravel roads and paths. One section I keep coming back to, which I would recommend for anyone new to biking or getting back in the saddle, is the Trans Canada Trail - especially the section between Peterborough and Omemee. Easiest access from Cavan or Millbrook is by parking where the trail crosses County Rd 10 just north of Hwy 7, or where the trail crosses Orange Corners Rd. Lots of scenic views to be had, especially from Doube's Trestle Bridge which is a short ride from either of those parking spots. All of the rail trails around here are relatively flat and smooth (winding between the hills, rather than over them), with no cars to worry about, so they're a great idea for a bike outing with the kids.
