Often when I see people training on air or using a , the micro second the training is complete that mask is ripped off faster than you can blink.⁣

It’s programming you to want to take your mask off right after a bout of intensity. ⁣

On the fire ground that mask needs to stay on till you are out of the IDLH atmosphere and decon is complete. ⁣

Do yourself a favour next time and keep your mask on until your breathing has returned to normal. When the time comes on the job, you’ll be thankful you did.⁣

With more mass comes extra air consumption.⁣

With more mass comes an increasingly hard time getting into tight spaces.⁣

Heavy compound lifts are a simple and effective way to get your strength work in. ⁣

If you want something to improve you need to be able to quantify the improvement.⁣

If you want to quantify something you will need to have some data to measure.⁣

To get data you need to track what you are doing.⁣

This is a custom white board made from large dry erase stickers and electrical tape.⁣

I’ll be focused on improving my conditioning and consistency over the next few months and this board is an easy visual way to track progress.⁣

If it hasn’t come yet there will come a time that you will need to move as fast as you can and get really uncomfortable doing it.⁣

The first time that happens should not be on shift.⁣

Zero pacing, all out intervals on the Airdyne are a great low impact high intensity way to train your sprints. ⁣

You can’t rely on adrenaline to get you through a tough task when it counts. ⁣

Know your job and train accordingly.

𝙋𝙪𝙨𝙝/𝙋𝙪𝙡𝙡⁣

This session was done early in the morning while bouncing a baby between sets. If you are waiting for the ideal training schedule and environment before you start working towards your goals you are going to be waiting a long time. You should always have an ideal for you training plan in place but you should always be ready to adapt it to what’s going on day to day, week to week. Something is a lot better than nothing.⁣
