Introducing Tempelton (I’m sure anyone who actually knows me knows Tempelton as he is a little bit famous for teaching a million kids to ride.. ok not a million but you get what I mean!)
My mom and I bought him at galetta sale barn when I was 8 and he was supposedly 9. He was my first pony. He was a bit of a handful, but clearly earned his stay/retirement as I have now had him 27 years! I would drive him into town to pick up my friends in public school/elementary school. He drove in parades (I also used to hook him to a cart in the winter and ski behind
Him), competed in barrel racing (even beat some horses he was fast!), I also dabbled in trick riding on him, jumped 3 feet, won numerous saddle and parade pony classes, and was also used to teach riding lessons at my own farm as well as the McWilliams farm where he did a riding camp or two. He did it all! Anyone could get on him. I always dreamt of my daughter riding him one day and lucky me , he has stuck around long enough to not only meet her, but also become her first pony too. I love him so much!

Would you guys guess that he’s at least 36 years young?!

We got Rocky aka “The X Factor” nice and fat this winter. He will be starting back into training this week. I also attempted riding him….We both survived!

🌾 Farm Help Wanted – Summer Position 🌾

Rocky Reign Acres is looking for a reliable, hardworking, and enthusiastic person to help on our family farm this summer.

This position is not limited to students. I am looking for someone who enjoys animals, likes being outdoors, and is eager to learn.

I am hoping to find help for approximately 3 hours per day, 2–3 mornings per week and/or the occasional weekend. The schedule is somewhat flexible and can be adjusted within reason for the right person.

Duties may include:

• Feeding and watering animals

• Cleaning stalls and pens

• General farm maintenance and farm chores

• Assisting with horses, chickens, puppies, and other animals

• Property clean-up and seasonal projects

• Training assistance (if experience is there)

Horse experience is an asset but is not required. I am happy to teach someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.

🐴 For the right person, I am willing to offer saddle time in exchange for farm help. We have both a sand riding ring and sand round pen available for training and riding. (I do not currently have a beginner friendly horse only intermediate)

Rocky Reign Acres is home to:

• A CKC Golden Retriever breeding program

• A show-quality poultry breeding program

• Hackney ponies (my primary focus)

• Standardbred and saddlebred

I have experience in several equestrian disciplines and would love to find someone eager to learn about horse care, training, breeding programs, and farm management while gaining hands-on experience.

This is a great opportunity for an animal lover who wants to spend time around horses and other animals while learning new skills.

📍 Located near Merrickville, Ontario

I am hoping to find someone to help throughout the summer months, with the possibility of continuing longer-term for the right person.
