Here at Creekside, we haven’t really ever offered jobs. As all of you know, running an equine facility is a lifestyle that goes above and beyond what any conventional “job description” may entail, and not just anyone is up for that. If you’re lucky you’ll find good help, but usually you do most of it yourself (for approximately $2.27 an hour.)
About 4 1/2 years ago we weren’t actively looking for anyone, Keanen just showed up! And somehow he was bound and determined to work here - and so we gave it a shot.
It didn’t take us long to learn that he wasn’t afraid of taking on whatever task there was to do, he was reliable and trustworthy, he was great with people and animals alike, he was able to trouble shoot just about any situation, he could operate any equipment and run any tool, he treated this place like his own, he came to work when he could have called in sick, he wasn’t afraid of the weather and if you bought him an Iced Capp or lunch every now and then the smile on his face became a little bit bigger yet.
So many of the events, activities and services we have been able to offer over the years were ONLY possible because of Keanen’s help, support and commitment.
You don’t just find people like that. And when they find you, it’s like you won the lottery.
We are eternally grateful for Keanen’s time here with us, he will forever be part of the family and while we are deeply saddened to see him go - we wish him nothing but the very best as he takes on a new chapter in his life of running the family farm.
Most jobs can be done by a variety of people with the right qualifications. Most times, when a person leaves the job, they can be replaced by someone else.
This one is different. Keanen truly is one in a million!
The kind of young man your kid needs as a role model. And as we shook hands yesterday on the way out, that’s exactly what we told our son!
