The Medicine Hat Mavericks are part of the Western Major Baseball League (WMBL) which is toted as Canada's pre-eminant college baseball league. Our players play in various college programs including junior college, NAIA, and NCAA. For the summer these players become a part of our community providing entertainment and inspiration to the young and young at heart of Medicine Hat. We call Athletic Par

k our home, playing 48 league games beginning in June and concluding mid August. The Mavericks joined the WMBL in 2003 to fill the void of Medicine Hat baseball fans losing their Minor League Affiliate Medicine Hat Blue Jays. In 2008, Greg Morrison took on the exciting challenge of making baseball “the hot ticket of the summer” in Medicine Hat. Greg has an extensive baseball background including a stint at the National Baseball Institute. In 1993, he took part in a game between the NBI and the Toronto Blue Jays at Athletic Park, beating the Blue Jays! Greg will take on the head coaching duties using his 12 years as a professional player (Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers orgs.) Operating on a Not-For-Profit basis, The Mavericks Baseball Club promotes all levels of baseball development in Medicine Hat. We aim to provide fun and inspiring camps to young baseball players looking to develop their skills. We believe that mentoring young athletes in sport helps develop our local baseball players but more importantly develops good citizens. It is the our goal to offer fans the highest quality of baseball that families can enjoy as they cheer on their favourite players and team. Congratulations to the following Mavericks on being selected to represent 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮 at the 2026 Western Canada Prospects Series, taking place September 3-6 in St. Albert!

The top 14U and 16U talent from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba will come together for four days of elite competition.

Champion State of Mind 🏆

What a weekend for our 14U Mavs!
They took on the very best at the Rawlings Cup and battled their way to the top, defeating the Black Gold 47’s 8-5 to bring home the championship!

A huge congratulations to Maverick Diesel Bishop, who was named 14U Tournament MVP! 🤜

We’re so proud of this team, their fight, and the way they competed all weekend. Champions on and off the field!

In the final Dynamic Duos episode of the season, Truman Bartman sits down with the Medicine Hat Mavericks Mid-America Christian players. Nick Hill, Frankie Giacalone, Jalen King, Jackson Miller and Ryan Reed were all part of the Evangels NAIA World Series tournament in 2026.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks are excited to announce that Head Coach Ryan Reed will return to lead the club for the 2027 WCBL season!

After joining the Mavericks as an assistant coach in 2025, Reed stepped into the head coaching role for the 2026 season and quickly made his mark both on the field and throughout the Medicine Hat community.

“I am very excited and thankful Ryan is returning for his third season,” noted Mavericks Owner/GM Greg Morrison. “It bodes well for our community when a great coach/person like Ryan wants to return to Medicine Hat.

“Ryan has amazing work ethic and leadership, so we are lucky to have him. We have already begun plans on building our team and look forward to providing an exciting 2027 season for our fans.”

With Reed back at the helm and preparations already underway, the Mavs are ready to get to work on building something special for 2027.

Welcome to the Junior Mavericks Coaching Staff, Johnny Vulcano & Carter Roth!

We’re thrilled to announce that two of the most accomplished players in Mavericks history are joining our Junior Mavericks and Mavericks Varsity coaching staff.

Johnny Vulcano has been an integral part of our WCBL Mavericks, recently becoming the franchise’s all-time leader in games played while also holding the career doubles record.

Carter Roth has been an absolute force at the plate, setting both the Mavericks and WCBL single-season doubles record with an incredible 2026 season.

Beyond the numbers, Johnny and Carter are proven leaders who play the game the Mavericks way - with grit, passion, and a team-first mentality. Now, they’re ready to help develop the next generation of baseball players right here within the Junior Mavericks program.

This fall, they’ll be working with our U10/U12 Junior Mavericks, our U15 Fall team, and supporting our newly established Mavericks Varsity program.

We can’t wait to get started. Welcome aboard, boys!
