History Of The Making of The Gary Grill
Hi,
My name is Gary. I’m the producer of The Gary Grill and this is how I got started. On a weekday in the summer of 1997 some friends and I were having a throw together barbecue after work. We were cooking hotdogs, hamburgers and steak over a campfire with a makeshift grill, propped level with rocks and blocks of wood. We decided to have a
barbecue over a campfire every Thursday after work for the summer at a different location around Port Hardy, BC. The Thursday Roving Barbecue, we called it. This brought on the need for a better campfire cooking grill. A few weeks later a friend was up and brought with him a made up portable campfire cooking grill and gave it to me to try out. It worked but was clumsy, awkward and soon the mounting post was bent and unusable. I decided to do some of modifications and make it sturdy and user friendly. As I worked on it I would bring the latest version to the “Thursday bbq”, as my notice of location email started to call it. My friends would show up and critique or compliment “ The Gary Grill” as they called it, so I decided to keep the name. This led me to the next 17 years of ‘changing this and tweaking that’ in order to get it to where it is today, simple and tough. My friends encouraged me to market The Gary Grill so that more people can enjoy simple campfire cooking; you can thank them for that. We still have our Thursday Roving Barbeque in the summer months and a lot more people have a Gary Grill now; enjoy yours. Thank You,
